I won't make his case for him but he does have a valid point. Much of our trouble in the middle east hinges upon our unabashed support for Israel. They are the lynchpin of our foriegn policy troubles there. That, plus as a nation, we act hypocritically when we deposed the government of Iran and installed the Shah in 1953, who was later overthrown amid evidence of corruption and replaced by the current Islamic Fundamentalist regime in 1979. We also supported Saddam with US weaponry and intelligence while the US government KNEW he was using chemical weapons on Iran and his own people during the nine year long Iran-Iraq War (1979-88) and never voiced a complaint towards him then yet now we claim how bad he was for doing so and should be overthrown.

Our own hypocrisy is what helps set these people off. The US is certainly no angel with regards to our middle east policies. That said, there are certain groups in the middle east who try to use these things to increase Arab discord towards the US so that they can enact a certain theocratic and political agendas. Both sides are dirty. It's just that what side you're sitting on is always thought to be the side that is rightgeous.
