Since I screwed up my hand I'd be happy to just pick up the pink toys. I can't even use my pants hangers (the ones with the grip things you have to squeeze to open) with my right hand. I'm such a wimp now. It's been nearly 2 weeks since surgery and I see no improvement. My penmanship looks like a first grader's. :(

Give it time. Recovery is a gradual process, you will be glad you did it. I wish you the best of recovery Puddles

Thanks for the well wishes. Normally I'm very patient, I just feel so lame now. It's weird doing things with my left hand, like eating and opening doors, it just feels so backwards! I have 8 stitches in my wrist and I don't know how many on my back but the scar is about 3 inches long, and they're all driving me nuts, gotta wait till the 21st to have them removed. Today I got sweaty at Home DePot and they were all stinging for a few hours till I could take a shower. Whahhhhhhhhh!

OK...all done whining. Now it's time to find a snack before I go to bed. I'm hungry! :)

What happened to your wrist? Your situation sounds a lot like my fiance's. She snapped a tendon in her hand (or ligament, I forget which), and they used the tendon from her arm to replace it. But they fucked up hard core. Now she has trouble gripping things with her right hand. She can't do heavy weights that require gripping, and she had to quit playing volleyball. It's been 2 years, with no improvement. She might have had a scholarship to play volleyball for CU, but the surgeon fucked her out of that one. Surgery did her absolutely nothing, except now she only has 1 tendon in her forearm.

Hopefully you get better though, it would be a shame if you couldn't workout to your full potential. Good luck on your recovery.

They have something out now that you can carry in your gym bag, it hangs off the existing barbell on the bench press, hooks around the barbell bar, and has a hook on the bottom that you can hang the dumb-bells off of. No stands needed or anything, just hang 'em up and take 'em off when you need them.
I too get bruises on my upper legs from holding the dumbbells there before a set, the only gym in town I know of with flat dumb-bells (like the ones at golds gym in venice beach) only has dummbells up to 50 lbs., which is a joke.

just found a picture of them, though there seem to be tons of manufacturers you can get these from off the net.

My injury was a freak accident from hurricane Charlie. I was taping up some broken windows and cut myself. After surgery I'm actually a little worse off than before but that's probably due to swelling, I'm still bruised and swollen and stitches won't come out for another week or so. The ulner nerve was not cut but there was trauma to it...whatever tha means...but some sensory nerves were cut and they should hopefully regrow over time. It's nothing I can't live with. I haven't been in the gym since it happened but I'm going to have to figure something out, maybe go with machines for a while once the pain subsides.
