It is at a time like this that everyone stops to think about....."what if..." What if I had said something?" What if I had been there?" What if I had done something?" Don't let there be another time that you say "what if"! Regardless if it is a good friend or just someone you know, if you see the signs of drug use or drug abuse...DO SOMETHING! I am not saying that DG was a drug abuser, but we can see what happens when someone uses just recreationally!

For anyone out there that might be facing the same demons as DG was...talk to your friends, your family, anyone here at SM! Admitting you have the problem is half the battle and asking for help means you are ready to win it! Don't feel ashamed or embarrassed because everyone has something that they need help beating!

    God be with you DG!

        Thats too bad

This makes me think not so fondly of how drug addiction can get the best of us, as some of you know I was just one step away from that in my own life(crack) and the thing about getting bunk shit and all or underdosed/overdosed shit is very much a reality. reagardless when getting to that level of drug use(coke, crack, heroin) it becomes a crap shoot evrytime we attempt to aquire and use these drugs.

I dont want to get into a preach or anything but I will say to anyone who may judge DG right now whether here, on other boards or even in thier thoughts that what we love doing(working out bodybuilding) is something we have an extreme passion for and with the extremities we go to with our bb'ing goals(either with training, supps, dieting doesnt mean necessarily drugs here) that we all ride a fine line between the good we are doing ourselves and bad.

I know its hard to make sense of what i am trying to put into words here but basically what i am saying is that the way we push ourselves in and out of the gym no matter our levels of fitness we all share those traits in our personality where we tend to lose fear of things and can easily get caught up in the type of lifestyles that DG and myself have experienced.

Alot of me wishes that I would have been able to chat with DG via PM or off the boards about this kind of stuff because maybe we could have related our situations and helped each other, but the fact of the matter is we always seem to say on the net that "its just the net, it doesnt matter". Well I am beginnning to see lately with all the stuff that has been happening/affecting members of these boards that its not always like that, the net is just another way people communicate with eahc other and we really do get to know those people sometimes even though we are just typing on a screen. hence we feel for them when shit happens.

I just want to say to DG's family, friends etc in 'real" life and online as well that we get into the whole rec drug thing not because we hate our families, friends etc or any pseudo pscychological reason but because we are just looking for something that we think isnt there but in reality is right in front of us and that we just dont see it. Unfortunately before we realize that it is right there its too late. And that thing is all our families, friends etc that do love us and want us to be alright.

My condolences to all who have been affected by this.

It's a sad day. The world has lost something, especially in such a brutal way. Should be taken as a lesson I believe. He was a great guy, and the world is alittlebit emptier.

Over a year ago, over at the old AnabolicFreaks, DG and I had an exchange of PM's about the health of our fathers. His father had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and my dad has CLL leukemia. I was telling him about what my dad has been through with the various treatments, and DG told me that his dad had chosen not to accept treatment. His father was a fiercely proud man who did not want to suffer the indignities and intrusion of prostate surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy. If I remember correctly, his dad was about the same age as mine, 80.

I've been wondering for a long time what happened with his father's situation, but never knew quite how to broach the subject with Rick. Does anyone know?

Milly, nice post. Often we don't appreciate what we have and we keep looking for greater things when in reality, what we do have is already the best.

Never knew the guy but did give me advise and did talk on the forum. But still anyone on this forum is like family. We all have something in common and we all reach out to each other. So when we lose someone on this forum whither or not we have seen the person or have spoken to the person via internet it still hurts because they are one of us. So with that said DG, may GOD be with you in whatever journey you are about to embark.

The last i knew his father was still hanging in there. He mentioned a cpl months ago that he wasn't doing very well but he didnt talk about it much.

I had no idea this thread was here or i would have posted this sooner. I posted this on a thread i started on another board and it pretty much sums up the way i felt about the man.

DG was a good man.He always had a smile on his face when i would see him. He was a very trusting guy and always willing to help a brother out when he was in a pinch.
He walked up to me one day at the gym said it was nice to see another big guy in there at that time we started talking and i was amazed at the depth of his knowledge. Training with DG was something i will sorely miss. He was one of the smartest men i have ever met when it came to AAS diet and training.
DG invited me over to his house and was the one that showed me these boards told me i might learn something and be able to help some people out along the way. Imagine a man willing to invite a virtual stranger over to his house just to help him out. That was the DG i knew the man was all heart.

I still look for the huge man in the full brim fishing hat everytime i step into the gym on a saturday or sunday afternoon and i think i will be for quite awhile. The first words out of his mouth without fail were always Hey bro looking good what are you training today. He made quite a impact on the way i train and cycle in the short amount of time i knew him. Everytime i push beyond failure from now on i will think of him with his (Come on bro give me two more ringing in my ears.)

Its tragic when a man is taken before his time. His legacy will live on though. I know i am not the only one he touched in some way and that is the only true measure we really have of our life on this planet.Have you made a difference in some way DG did the people he helped along the way in whatever way he could attests to it. I am not ashamed to say i cried like a baby when i learned of my friends passing.

Whats really messed up is i trained with him on weekends and i had to find out on the net what happened. There was nothing about it in the papers and now i know why he was never home when i would stop and hadnt been in the gym to workout in a few weeks.

This is what it's all about...keep DG's memory alive in your heart and he'll continue to be a part of your life.

Thank you, DG, for being such an awesome person, online and in person, to everyone around you.

DG is definitely missed by those he trained with.It gets to me everytime some kid comes up asking where the other big guy is that i usually train with.

He was always willing to take time out of his workout to answer some kids questions. Whether it was gear, diet or training related he always made time for those around him.
