Today was another good day, lots of progress in feeling better. We walked around her wing plus into the next wing a few times and she's getting in and out of the chair by herself. Getting into bed is still tough but she's doing remarkably well. Today we started some liquids (water, green tea, broth and gatorade) and jello and it's staying down just fine.

Glad to here that she is able to get up and do some walking around. Hopefully she is thru the worst part and the rest of her recovery is speedy :)

Spoke with the dr. tonight and things seem to be going on schedule. Good/Bad news is that the polyp he thought wasn't cancerous was indeed cancer, but it was in an early stage so just the surgery alone ends it. He said had it been left alone, in another year it would have likely spread to her lymph nodes. This is hereditory and my colonoscopy 2 yrs. ago showed polyps, so this dr. wants me to go in for another colonoscopy and have them biopsied. Grrrrrrrrrrr...genetics! I told mom today all I want to inherit from her are her blue eyes, I don't want the rest of this shit. LOL

Definitely get those checked out. Colon cancer is a tough one to treat if it gets out of control. If it gets to the lymphatic system, it is usually fatal. Both you and your mother should get regular colonoscopies from here on out to catch anything early. Good news indeed that they caught it early enough in your mother's case. I am a little surprised they are not recommending at least some low dose chemotherapy to insure there aren't any lingering cells hanging around to start problems.

Do you think that would be because they also removed 10 inches of colon and surrounding scar tissue? Should I ask more questions? He said it was an early stage cancer but he didn't specify exactly which stage it was at. I know with my melanoma it was an early stage 2 and normal treatment is just surgery for that, at least that's what I understood from a few hrs. of searching on the net and the dr. said surgery would suffice.

Mom didn't do so well today. She is off liquids and back on anti-nausia meds for dry heaving through the night and still nautious today, stomach distended, weak, breaking out in sweats, redness on one side of her belly. She couldn't walk much at all today. Sucks cuz today was her b-day. Hope tomorrow's better.

My roomate just had it, hes 29 yrs old, spread to his lymph nodes, he is undergoing chemo therapy right now.

29 is so young. You only expect this stuff in older people.

Mom's not doing too well so your continued prayers are appreciated. They've got a tube down her nose going into her stomach pumping shit out, hoping that can be removed tomorrow morning and start back on some sips of water by afternoon. I hate seeing her like this. :(
