Remind Me To Cancel My Hunting Trip To Wisconsin

I think the next asian hunter stepping foot on someone else's woodland property in Wisconsin is going to be asked to leave from a distance...in the form of having a few bullets zing over his head.
Funny thing is...had it been Texas, and had the hunters' land been surrounded by a barbed wire fence with 'no trespassing' signs, the landowners could have shot this asshole right out of the treestand and killed him LEGALLY. And really, that's the way it should be. NOBODY...regardless of race, religion, whatever... should be allowed to trespass on private property unless it's law enforcement with a valid search warrant.
It's a prevalent problem in our society...very little respect for other people's property...be it walking on their land, leaning on vehicles in parking lots, littering on people's yards....the scumbags who let their dogs take a shit on other people's property, ect.Last edited by hitmansb; 11-23-04, 02:21 AM.

I don't know what happened here and what set this guy off - I am sure it will all come out in due course.
However, I feel that It is totally unfair to tar a whole community or ethnic group with a broad brush due to the action of one person. Taking a tragedy like this and turning it an anti-Hmong issue is specious and repugnant.
And the comment made by the guy in the news article - "They let all these foreigners in here, and they walk all over everybody's property" - displays a colossal ignorance of history.
Maybe he should go read up on how the actions of this country were instrumental in the upheaval of the Hmong in the first place. A good reference is:

thats definitely something you dont expect when you go hunting. even though everyone has a gun, you dont expect them to open fire on your ass.
that shit is crazy, out of those people killed, 2 of 'em were father and son. couldnt imagine being out hunting with my dad and getting shot down and killed by some maniac.
i'm sure they were probably pretty mean to him when they told him to leave. but still, everyone that hunts knows you just cant go where ever the fuck you want. if you want to hunt on certain land you have to ask permission. they should tell these asian hunters this when they take the course to get a hunting license.

Thank you, Scrumhalf, for that link. I am embarrassed to admit that I had no idea about the Hmong at all before reading that. How sad that people feel the need to lash out at others for being different, as our country is supposed be a 'melting pot' where anyone can make a home.Originally posted by Scrumhalf

Of course, if this man did indeed just start shooting at the other hunters, he does deserve to be brought to justice. That justice should be delivered due to his actions, not his heritage.
Most serial killers are white men, but not all white males are serial killers, and not all Hmong go out and massacre hunting parties.

It's a shame race is even brought into this. It's just one person who went "off" But now that whole comunity is in fear of retaliation.
As far as what hitmansb said about being able to legally shoot someone for being on your land, I beg to differ. You might be able to shoot someone for entering your home, but someone climbs over your barb wire fence and you can take him out? I seriously doubt it.
