    Thanks.

And psyko1- it's NOT like saying violence on TV leads to real life violence. I'm saying that the standard has gotten so low that this is now acceptable. Girls AND their parents are both responsible. However, the way these girls dress these days DOES attribute to the picture they project of themselves....which can inherently lead to sex and pregnancy.

Rs- I guess I did contradict myself... I would hope that my daughter doesn't even want a dress like that... I would think/hope she wouldn't. I work with girls all the time in gymnastics and seen them go to prom and none of them are in anything like these with cutouts and stuff.

        WHEW!!

Just based on what little I know of you, I at least know you take great pride in raising your children right....so I was quite confused.

I can't even imagine what the dresses will look like when a have a girl old enough. I can't imagine the catfight that will go down if sh thinks for a second she's leaving the house that way. LOL!

Even if I had a supermodel body, I still wouldn't feel comfortable wearing that to a prom. It's so revealing and just totally projects the wrong image, IMO.

Thanks for giving me the benefit of a doubt. Seeing this though scares me what the dresses will look like when she goes to prom. It will probably be pasties and a see-through skirt with a thong underneath at the rate the dress designers are going. UGH!!! If that's the case, she won't be going.

The dresses are all ugly IMO. I like sexy, but there's gotta be some class to make it sexy and not trashy. The models are also too skinny but then again, I like a little meat on bones.

No way would I let my daughter wear one of those while she lives under my roof, and if I had a son, I wouldn't let him date a girl who dressed like that. Yeah, many of the girls going to the prom will wind up with their dresses on the floor of a hotel room (mine didn't stay on long after we were behind locked doors but I also married the guy) but there's no need to advertise it like a little whore.

Every generation tries to outdo the one before but this shit's just too much. It's trash.

This week my daughter (7th grade) is having a sex ed kinda class. They're promoting abstinence and STD awareness. We've had pleanty of chats about this already and fortunately we have a very open line of communication.

It's amazing how times have changed over the years. SEVENTH GRADE and they're having to promote abstinence! It's sad really. Kids don't have a chance to just be kids long enough these days.

I couldn't agree more. I can't believe you daughter is already having those classes!!! However, if my memory serves me correctly, that was about the age that my middle school started the classes....In fact, we even had a biological sex ed class in 5th grade!

And you are absolutely right- each generations tries to out do the next and be more risque, and shocking as the one before. When does it ever end??

I mean, I'm 27 years old, and no matter how good I looked I would not wear any of those dresses. How can these girls have such little respect for themselves?

I've seen you with less than that on!:P And besides you would fill that dress out like it should be! IMO

YOU BE QUIET!! I don't know what you are talking about!!

And it's not a matter of filling out the dress. It's mainly about having the class and poise to act like a lady instead of a street walker. I swear one of those dresses was copied of the shorter version Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman!

 Anyway.....so if the hubby asked you to wear something like that to a special event ...you wouldn't! I mean if he took you to...say his 10 or 20 year college reunion and wanted you to look REALLY sexy to make the other guys trip on their tongues, would you wear it for him?
