Thanks for the wishes for our friend. Amazing how such a simple accidental overdose on OTC meds can cause such serious complications. Be safe people!

tell your mom to gety tylenon simply sleep , or the generic version...... it has the acedimenophin removed and is only the sleeping agent.... works great with out the tax on the liver.

      His diagnosis was tylenol overdose.

We all know that you can get messed up taking too much of anything. Tylenol has the potential to do harm at only moderate amounts above the recommended dosage.

People have od'ed because they took some tabs and also took cold medicine that had Tylenol in it.

My mother takes Vicoden for back pain. She did not know that Vicodens are 95% Tylenol. She also takes Tylenol PM to help her sleep. We discovered this during our convo about my friend.

According to what I have read, the amount she takes everyday could harm someone that is especially sensitive to it. Obviously she is going to stop and seek other medication

Benadryl (Diphenhydramine hydrochloride) is typically the sleep aid in most meds.

I was under the impression that it is the acetamenophin that is actually harmful to the liver, and it is in alot of products like darvocet and cough syrups. Is tylenol actually worse?

I read Life Extension magazine alot (pro-testosterone and hormones, pro-creatine, pro-vitamins, anti-fda), a non-profit organization dedicated to healthy living; they have the largest testing lab for vitamins and supplements, and as far as I'm concerned, I've never seen an article that wasn't right-on (not that I read everything they put out, but still...).

Here is an article from them on acetaminophen http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2004/may2004_awsi_01.htm

Tylenol is the brand name for the acetaminophen sold by McNeil Pharmaceuticals. Acetaminophen is the generic name. They are the same thing chemically.

Acetaminophen is a pain reliever and fever reducing chemical in a lot of over the counter medications like cough and cold medicines, etc.

Here is another article or protocol by "Life Extension" magazine addressing the toxic effects of acetominaphen (Tylenol) and what you can do to treat it http://www.lef.org/protocols/prtcl-001.shtml

If you're a info-nut like I am and have some time to browse, follow this link to their 2004 magazine archive and prepare to be amazed.
