I grew up on a farm and have lived off 6 hours of sleep my entire life. It is all I need. I do however take one day a week and sleep 8 hours or more.

I guess that it depends on how hot she is. :D

No really, optimally it's around 7-8 at most during the week for me if I'm weight training heavily. I find that I can still function pretty well on as little as 4-5 hours for a few days at a time but at some point, I will sleep for possibly 10-11 hours, like on a weekend. You can't ever "catch up" on lost sleep time but my body seems to say, "OK, i'm shutting you down for a while" LOL . If I have some major hands-on work project or some sort of physical contest the next day, I need approximately 12 hours to really wake up fresh and I can go for about 20 or more hours straight before I start to get fatigued again. It's not exactly healthy for most people (certainly not for the long-term) but you do what you must if that's your job or your hobby.

Trippers - every person's varies. The average is 7-8 hours
required. Less or more than this is associated with increased
morbidity/mortality due to worsening of blood sugar processing.
For you, get what makes you feel good sleepwise during
the day since more or less than that is the sign you don't
want to have. If you are fresh and alert most of the day,
it is a good sign that your body is in homeostatic balance
and that carries over to decreased morbidity.

          ROMAN

P.S. Barbender - your mistake is bringing them home. You should
be at THEIR place, finish up, then leave for home.

This thread is old, but I was wondering how much sleep you guys normally get?

I currently have MAJOR sleeping problems - definite insomnia. I usually cant get to sleep until at least 4am, and then I wake up 4-6 hours later. Of course this also leaves me tired ALL the time. :hang:

Same here - just don't get to sleep in as late...

Was on a really good schedule for about a month but it was fleeting at best....

I tried some unconventional methods way back but now I've just done my best to make the most of it......

I did try not sleeping at all recently though - gave it a round of staying up almost 40 hours and then going to bed at 9pm hoping it would get me back on track - didn't work worth a darn - just had me up for another 40 hours the next day/night....

I was sort of in a pattern of getting SO exhausted after a few days, that I would crash. Now it doesn't matter how tired I am, how little sleep I got, or for how many days - I still can't sleep and I constantly feel tired. :dunno:

Yeah - you/I should have that checked out - it's obvious nothing is working and I'm sure it doesn't benefit *who* we are by any means....

Ugh, I wouldn't know where to start.

As a side note - I got really sick in February and for some reason have been "fighting" it ever since it seems. I have low grade fevers often, etc. Maybe the two have something to do with each other. :dunno:

I never really gave it any thought until maybe a month or two ago. I'd notice I wasn't feeling 100%, or get really hot or whatever other symptom - I'd take my temperature, and sure enough I'd have a fever. Last week I actually went to the doctor for coughing fits that keep me up all night - sure enough, I had a fever there too!

So I know you've been more than a few times for this - probably more than I even know about - what are they saying/speculating/guessing/trying/prescribing????

Have you tried anything besides wearing yourself down? Maybe more time outdoors or working out like you used to etc? Maybe just turning your mind off from time to time or taking long walks on the beach and taking in the sunset?
