I had to cut back my net use at work and i've been so busy golfing i haven't been to the gym or at home. Damn they're taking a long time with those shirts.
Timma, seriously, do you play on any tours now--what's your handicap? I play a significant amount but it certainly doesn't keep me out of the gym! I've really noticed a vast improvement in my distance and distance control since I started working out, particularly my lower body and core muscles. I'm sure I'm nowhere near your playing level, but I play to about a USGA handicap of 5.

Nope you are near me. I'm about a 5 right now. No tours for me yet. I have a few kinks to get rid of and i'll be scratch. I did notice a really big difference this season after I had bulked. The only thing is my control was gone. What type of exercises and weights do you do? Low weight, high reps?
I definitely don't do any powerlifting--I do mostly 8-10reps of slow, well-controlled motions. Every off-season I kinda wonder if I'm gonna bulk too much and lose my golf game, but so far-so good! I do put a lot of emphasis on stretching cause I'm convinced even massive bodybuilders can be very flexible-Melvin Anthony at the Arnold Classic showed that-he did a full-out split!
My kink I need to get rid of is putting! I hit about 80% of fairways, averaging about 290 yards with a driver and about 70% of greens, which I make up for with better than average chipping, but my putting sucks. For example, this weekend I shot 76 with 39 freaking putts--I'll never get better till I solve this putting thing. I have a lesson this week-hope it gets me back on track.

Putting is tough. Luckily I was blessed with a putting gene. Yes stretching is key. I found that with stretching I can still turn fully in my swing. My kink is recovering from a bad shot. Two weeks ago I was even after 4 (should have been -3 but that's a different story) then one bad shot got to me and it was all over.
