Yea it's away for the most part. Certain days I guess it gets irratated bad. I have to put my arm in one position for it to feel better. Try sitting on the couch and put your arm up on the back so that it's not stretched from your arms hanging down and it's relaxed. When it's happening I can't just live with it. But it only happens about once every couple weeks

I think it's a pinched nerve too.I used to get that kinda pain. While back ago I was squating some heavy weight,as I was coming up I lifted my chin up and I felt something got tight under the bar. For a while I had that kinda discomfort, but now I only feel it on my first set of lat pulldowns or pull ups, after warming up pain goes away.I get massages at least twice amonth and since this happened when I get a masssage I have my traps and my mid back woked on extra and I think that helped alot like I said,I only feel little tightnes and discomfort during my first set or two of my back exercises after that pain goes away.

Burning/tightness in upper traps down to the middle of the back? Sounds like its only your traps. Probably strained,,,You arent giving them healing time so they are or will get worse.... I had a strained trap,I ignored it.When benching I was doing 365 which i could usually do for 10,on the 3rd rep my trap gave shifted all the weight to my upper pec and tore....Felt like a razor ripped across my pec. Be carefull.

'impingement syndrome.' Impingement syndrome occurs when there is inflammation of the tendons around scapula (shoulder blades) and the bursa that surrounds these tendons. Once these tendons are inflamed it can cause an onset of common symptoms such as the pain Bouncer is having. I would suggest a cortisone shot. Cortisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory medication. Cortisone is not a pain relieving medication, it only treats the inflammation.Originally posted by Shibbyimpingment on the nerves. .

Have you considered getting an MRI? An MRI will truly show what is going on with the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and so on... That's what I had to do with my knee. Come to find out, I had a ruptured tendon, torn and bruised muscle tissue, and bursitis.

all I can say bro is my traps are constantly sore, my lower back is also, and it doesn't matter what's going on stress levels / training etc, I only notice very bad stress headaches not muscle aches, needless to say I have alot of headaches lol.

Constant pain in the lower back could mean a slight bulge in one of your disc.Originally posted by MuGGsyall I can say bro is my traps are constantly sore, my lower back is also, and it doesn't matter what's going on stress levels / training etc, I only notice very bad stress headaches not muscle aches, needless to say I have alot of headaches lol.

yeah, or it could be the 3-4 hours i put a day on a rice rocket ;) I don't think it's a disc, it's not that bad of a pain just a muscle ache, a deep tissue massage rids me of it altogetherOriginally posted by bad14uConstant pain in the lower back could mean a slight bulge in one of your disc.

Lactic acid formation, it runs from the traps down the paraspinals a burn if you get it while sitting or typing but not lifting you have lactic acid buildup get a sweedish or deep tissue massage. when you get the massage drink lots and lots of water more than norm reason being is that when lactic acid is worked out the muscle and enters the blood stream u can become very cranky so drink up lad.Lactic acid formation, it runs from the traps down the paraspinals a burn if you get it while sitting or typing but not lifting you have lactic acid buildup get a sweedish or deep tissue massage. when you get the massage drink lots and lots of water more than norm reason being is that when lactic acid is worked out the muscle and enters the blood stream u can become very cranky so drink up lad.
The reason when u use ice or heat and they go away a few days is because you are getting superficial lactic acid away the deeper intramuscular lactic acid turns into hard balls(knots) the literally have to be "broken" remember all the lifting we do all the junk by products of energy and sugar that we burn turns into something, and one component is lactic acid
When people are stressed then tend to tighten their pecs and shoulders which causes the shoulders to roll forward and pull the back muscles out wider causing constant stress, this stress is the muscles enemy the muscles is constantly under tension and cannot fully expand and hence the lactic acid builds up. As far as it being a nerve pain, nope nerve pain is constant and will get worse during certain movements, when the surrounding muscle actually rubs the nerve or "pinches" it, nerve pain can be easily fixed via receptor drugs but I highly doubt its your issue. I hope this gave some insight to whats up, and for those who want credentials shove em up ure ass :) jk I did physical therapy for a while hated it and ended up doin something else
btw... the massages needed for the lactic acid issues usually are about 4-6 sessions focussing not only on the back and traps but the chest and shoulders that are causing them to be under constant stress, its just like the agonist antagonist principle
