If it does like most storms it will lose a bit of it's wind strength right before landfall, but the speed it is traveling will pick up. So it will actually be more dangerous.
I went through Hugo and don't want to go through another one, but it looks like it wants to visit the Carolinas.:(
Originally posted by MrsPuddlesFL We have our hurricane survival kits all prepared. Lots of canned protein, peanutbutter, jugs of water and juice. I used to live in a flood zone right by the water...after a voluntary evacuation one year on our wedding anniversary I decided our next house would not be near the water.
I am bringing my dog and staying with you guys then.......:)
Somebody either in Florida or along the East coast is gonna get hosed on this one. Us Texas coast people are starting to pray that it turns. You folks should be prayin that turns a bunch. And be quick about it!
Yesterday it was reclassified as a Cat-4, but it is now back up to a Cat-5, w/winds speeds over 156mph. Anybody on the East Coast, take it seriously, if it hits land (which they are becoming more certain that it will), it is expected to do more damage than Andrew. Andrew was the most expensive natural disaster in U.S. history.
Looking at past track records, its most likely gonna slam the mid atlantic, but at the pace its moving it could very well hit here as well...one way or another everyone from SC to Mass should be ready for something, cause the water temps dont get cold enough till mid jersey shore for that sucka to loose some strength
