I bet you thought this was going to be your usual gas prices are to high kind of threads. Well this is more about my frustration with putting a certain amount of gas in the tank. I was filling up my tank today and I was paying with cash. Now you know how when you are paying with cash you try to get that even dollar amount. It happens alot now that no matter how hard I try I always go 1 or 2 cents over. With the gas prices being higher, the slightest litle click of the handle and you can go from the 99cent mark to 1 cent over.

I've given up on paying cash for gas and just swipe the card. I filled my Honda Accord this morning and it was a little over $39. I'm glad I usually don't have to drive far to get where I'm going. I don't like having to fill the tank frequently and that's one of the reasons I have my little car.
The thing that really annoys me at the gas station is when the pump is really slow. I usually get annoyed and just put a few dollars instead of filling up.

I read an article in the WSJ a few weeks back and wish that I would have saved it for everyone.Originally posted by SloppyJoim predicting up to $3 a gallon in a month.. i have seen several articles in the paper sayin it could get up to that (foreshadowing).. and all the crap on tv sayin how its $5 and $6 in europe.. but they drive 1/8 less then we do, by the time i get to another state theyve gone through 3 countries
Think about this analogy - how much was a gallon of milk 30 / 20 / 10 years ago. I know that it may be hard to remember how inflation and the effects of supply and demand contribute to the price of things but it's all relative. Looking at the increase in the prices of gas over the last 20 / 10 years most people did not realize that it was staying below the average rate of inflation. Now that it has caught up with most other consumable goods people are freaking out.
What we really need to be upset about is the fact that there is a ton of technology available with proven ways around this issue. However, either we the consumer fail to support it (purchasing SUV's at 100's of times the rate of fuel effecient cars) by fueling the economy with poor decisions like this, or the government will not fund or at least put forth a concerted effort to fund sufficient amounts for this R&D. Unfortunately, the government always looks out for what is best for whomever is in office or seated in position and WE THE CONSUMER FUEL THE ECONOMY WITH OUR PURCHASES of less that satisfactory fuel consuming vehicles.
Don't get me wrong - I love the ergonomics and appearance of SUV's way more than hybrids and fuel efficient cars of the future etc... However, we all need to realize that we control what car makers and oil companies do by consuming oil. Also, don't forget all the other things that oil can go into in manufacturing etc - carpets and so on... and so on... and so on...
Be like me - RIDE AN AMERICAN MADE HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
50 MPG @ 3.5 Gallons per tank (Think $9 for 160-180 miles)

ok... but not many ppl r just gonna go out now and get a motorcycle, not to mention because gas price is goin up eventually everything else is... in minn, a pizza place is chargin an extra dollar to deliever... in texas, a roof company is charging an extra $5 for house inspections... soon food will rise in price because the cost of shipping them in(and you need 18 wheelers and other large vehicles, not to mention planes to ship them in).. so i can hardly blame ppl for drivin suvs when the price of gas has gone up almost a dollar in a year

Our country is rich and wasteful but the day is gonna come where we pay for being so spoiled, and that day may be closer than we realize. Hopefully the politicians will start using their brains and fix our energy problems.
