  • No Gas Sunday's: Request By Bill O'Rilley to Americans

This isn't some chain email, this was actually broadcasted:

"So let's buy less gas. In fact, let's buy no gas on Sundays. The USA should have a gas-free Sundays campaign between now and Christmas. None of us should buy gas on our day of rest.

The oil companies and OPEC only make money when we buy their stuff. If we cut back even 10 percent on energy buying, they'll get hurt. Let's all do it. If we don't, the national economy will totter and we'll all be poorer.

Now last night, "Talking Points" called for U.S. oil companies to voluntarily give up 25 percent of their profits in this very tough time by lowering gas prices. This morning, Diane Sawyer asked President Bush about my proposal."

why don't they offer that guy that owns virgin records that just took a space shuttle into orbit on his own to come up with a battery/solar powered car design....oh thats right then everyone would bitch because so many people are out of jobs now that gas is outdated. Govt will never solve our problems...in fact they have never solved a problem in which they didn't create it in the first place with bad legislation. Private genious/intuintivness is always what saves the human race. and that is what we need now. not for the enviroment and not because some politician asked but because it is the right thing to do now (yes there is right and wrong in the world).

*my rant at 523 in the morning before the gym :) *

      Good post, Stone.

I usually agree with most of what O'Rilely says but c'mon, stop buying gas on Sundays? What will that do? People will just fill up on Saturday or Monday. It won't actually save any gas.

I am however being more careful with my driving and paying more attention to my electric use at home.

I know the has nothing to do with the problem. But you know one thing that REALLY burns me up that our gov't has wasted money on. Well thats the space program. What a fucking waste of time and money! I don't give a fuck if we figure out a few people can survive up there, bla blah blah.

Sunday is not my day of rest. I don't go to church on Sunday, never have never will. O'Reilly is a posturing asshole that gives conservatives everywhere a bad name.

I hve to disagree the space program rocks... inventions like velcro and the microwave are just a few of the things that we have learned from nasa's space developements, yah its gay to send a rover on mars but from that rover came new remote control technology that they use for surgies today

Fuck it, I am buying a 1977 Old Cutlass with a 455 V8. I could give a fuck less anymore. If it tkaes 15 dollars to fill up my Harley, then I might as well spend the extra and drive a big block Olds as well

I think the no gas sundays is more to throw a disruption in there day to day, just to cause them a head ache.

It won't affect the oil companies, it'll just mess with the people who work at the stations, maybe even cause them to lose work if they're not needed.

Not buy gas 1 day a week? People will just buy it on Saturday! What Bill should have said is that we don't drive 1 day a week. That's what will reduce gas consumption.

If everyone who lives within 10 miles of work rode a bicycle to work just ONE day a week, we would make a reasonable dent in gas consumption, plus get some cardiovascular benefit. What needs to happen a a *lifestyle* change, not some one-off gimmick.

So does you (anyone else) think his idea was to financial boycott the oil company and just didn't think it through?

It cost me 17bucks to fill up my R1 lol, I'm so glad I ride a bike with these gas prices, not buying gas on sunday? Childish at best, certainly not going to help anything.
