  • Fellow Handgunners

I know there's some guys here that are armed and dangerous, so I was wondering if I could get some opinions. If you could only have one of these, considering your life depends on it's dependability as far as accuracy and durability, which one would you choose. These are all .40 S&W models.

    Sig Sauer P226
    Glock 22
    S&W SW99 / Walther P99
    S&W 4006
    Heckler and Koch USP .40
    Springfield XD9102HC
    Beretta 96

Feel free to add any handgun that's not on the list that you feel you'd rather stand by. Thanks for any help.

thats a no brainer for me bro HK is all i ever buy anymore. even though i perfer the 9mm. i used to own a beretta 92f 9mm and a glock 9mm i could shoot a fly at 15 yards with the beretta and couldnt hit a house at 15 yards with a glock. i would goto a shootin range were they rent guns and try the different kinds i know 2 spots in the south bay if you need them.

That's my issue. I can't find a range around here that has the H&K or the XD. My experience with the beretta 96 wasn't that great compared to the 92. I shot better with the glock. Sig Sauer wasn't decent but I wasn't impressed.

Thanks bro. The H&K is what i'm most interested in. Hopefully they have it so I can check it out. Ya, that's trigg alright. Ironic how some of hughes best slams were on him. LOL. He was crouched over on his knees one time and practically dead lifted him up into position. Gotta love the dead lifts for that.

            1-Glock
            2-Hk
            3-Beretta
            4-Sig

They're all dependable and high quality firearms. But if I had to pick just one it would be in that order. Glock would be first because of the durable finish, incredible reliability and ease of repair if needed.

It's not the size of the gun in the fight, but the size of the fight in the gun.

I agree, I own a glock .45 and love that gun, but get a hold of the Hk and determine which has a better feel for you.

I own a Glock 22 and my best friend has a Sig P226 in .357 Sig. Having shot both, I have a slight preferance for the Sig as far as shooting comfort (I like the grip better). The Glock is lighter and would be a better concealed carry weapon. Both seem to group similarly and both are lifetime warranteed and dependable. The Glock costs about $100 less than the Sig.

Overall, I will stick with the Glock. I have been thinking of getting a subcompact model for concealed carry; maybe a model 27.

Well if you think about it, the reason most people get a handgun is for either if someone is to break into your house, that you'll be able to protect yourself or if you have a carry permit, that's what it's for. So most people want a firearm that is reliable and won't jam on you should the moment arise. Cause a jammed gun in that situation could cost you your life. I see all these handgun manufacturers talking about the reliability of their firearms and how nato supposedly shot 30,000 rounds consecutively without jamming. Just taking all that into consideration. Bet you thought I was a cop huh? LOL.

Very true. I just don't like the look of them though. I went to a shop that had a range and they had the S&W .500. I wanted to shoot it so bad, but unfortunately it wasn't one of the rental guns. The .44 was though. The guy was like, as much as i'd like to let you, unfortunately can't. I think that thing holds like 4 bullets or something. LOL.

I love my glock 22. I can eat a center fire target from 25 yards with it. But in consideration I have never fired another handgun.
