Longhorns fans can relax.
After much concern over whether Texas would be leapfrogged in the initial BCS standings by Virginia Tech, the Longhorns were in the No. 2 spot when the first set of standings were released on Monday.
If the standings hold, Texas will be the lone roadblock standing between USC and an unprecedented third consecutive national championship. The Trojans, who are ranked No. 1 in the USA Today and Harris Interactive polls and in four of the six computer rankings employed by the BCS, hold down the top spot.
Virginia Tech, Georgia and Alabama rounded out the top five -- all five of which are undefeated. And while Georgia and Alabama could potentially meet in the SEC championship, it's still possible for four of those top five teams to finish the regular season without a loss.
