Now i'm confused. How do you not get to keep the music that you've already downloaded to your hard drive? Are these mp3's licensed protected where you have to input a password to use them or what?

Yup,somehow you don't get the licence for the music you downloaded. And actually every time you plug your mp3 player it updates the licences for the songs, even if you pay for your memebership and don't plug your player for more than 30 days you can't play your songs. I know it sounds like pain in the ass but since every Tuesday they come out with new relaeses I always find something the download,so that solves the problem. :D

OK, I know this thread is old, but bear with me.

The other day I plugged my Ipod into my computer and some update program started to run. Before I knew it, all 3,300 songs on my Ipod had been erased and it had been synced up with my Itunes library. I don't have many music files on my harddrive right now because I have alot of video files on there, so I only had like 60 songs in my library at the time. :cursin: Fuckin Ipod. Now I have to try to find all of that shit again and put it all back on. I think I have it all because I burned all of my music files to DVDs, but now I have to copy all of that back to my computer. Before I do that, if I want to keep any of my video files, I have to burn them to DVDs so I'll have room for all the music. Plus I've deleted alot of the CDs I ripped thinking, "Oh, I have that on my Ipod and I still have the CD so I don't need to keep this on my computer." Right. Thanks for the forced sodomy, Ipod.

The kicker is my wedding is in three and a half weeks and we were going to use my Ipod for the music, so now I have to do all of this pronto. We bought a house and we just moved all our stuff in so the timing is amazing. Well, I'm not done. Now, my computer is fucked up so I have to fix that. Not all Ipod's fault, but fuck, not happy with Ipod right now.

Did you not know that it would update with whatever was in iTunes? If you take your music off iTunes it will replace your music next time on your iPod sync with whatever is on iTunes. I just bought a Mac and had to burn all my music from my pc, then I installed that music on my Mac. First time I hooked up my iPod it had a warning letting me know it was about to replace all my music with whatever was currently on the Macs iTunes.

Well, you can change the settings and I had it set to manually update my Ipod so that it wouldn't just overwrite everything automatically, but the settings must have reset to default or something. I can't think of what would have made it do that.

Damn, a system restore would make it change settings. Or maybe a software update. Man that sucks.

I know, I know, I'm gay for even owning one. But my 2nd ipod is now a pile of scrap. I've had it. Ipods suck ass. Fucking thing stopped working for the 100th time and I'm sick of it. Pay $300 for something that stops working inside of a year. Freakin ridiculous.
