  • Im a bodybuilder and I have a problem...

The Dumbells in my gym only go up to 150lbs. The problem is they are to light for exercises such as behind the head tricep presses and shrugs. These are to of my favorite exercises and I find myself having to do 3 and 4 sets of 20 reps. I dont want that, I want to be able to get a weight that I can just get 10 reps such as 180lb or 200lb Db's. I dont understand why they cant purchase a complete set of DB's, instead they stop at 150's. Thats my bitching for the day. bah

fat boy, i will bounce the Db's off your fat belly if you ever call me a punk again. and DB shrugs hit my traps much better then the bar. cant get the right grip on a bar.

My gym only goes up to 150, too--I think that's pretty common. Barbells and cables are the only way around it--or buy your own db's!

i agree DBs are way better for shrugs! i wouldnt call the 150lbs are to light for your tris a problem. shit i call that a blessing.

I think I can safely say that I will never do 150lb tricep extensions for a set of 20!!

Just be like ronnie and buy them for your gym. Most gyms won't justify the price to buy them. There is the +lbs system to add on to the dumbbells, but that takes unscrewing the collars to put them on each time.

LOL recently you have been so angry, geesh, dont u have a trap machine where the handles are like db handles and u can load the bar up, then u can put plates on the sides its like the old hexagon bars with the handles in the middle ?

Damn lets get u some happy pills for xmas... my treat

I have the exact same problem with those exercises, but my gym on goes up to 110. It's not my favorite way to do things, but to change it up on the overhead tris, I will put that exercise at the end of my workout to make it harder. The shrugs are already at the end so I guess I'm fucked there.

not extensions. im talking about when you sit in a seated position and with 2 hands to tricep extensions befind your head.

i dont really care about strenght anyway. i could care less if i could left 5 lbs, just as long as my muscles grow.

im not angry at all. i am just kinda in the zone so to speak right now. training hard, diet is right on track, body is right where i want it to be with slight improvments everyday. i feel good. i was a little depressed for awhile. comming off AAS really fucked me up for a good 6 months. i was not myself. i almost stopped believing in myself. but now, im back! just like kramer from seinfield says, "Im out there Jerry, an im loving every minute of it". lol

why do shrugs when you can deadlift. you can use way more weight on a deadlift and it will make your traps grow a million times better then some stupid shrugs. lol

True, but deads are only what, four sets? You need to add in the shrugs to pound them traps into oblivion. Plus shrugs allow you to hit them at a different angle as well.
