I think the pink (why pink? why not green? or blue?) license plates add a permanence to the offense, which isn't fair in a society that has a criminal justice system predicated on reforming individuals, or even in a Judeo-Christian society bearing principles of forgiveness. Does this mean that someone could have learned his or her lesson, served his time, repaid his debt to society, and still have to wear his conviction on his sleeve? What if you now became the least-likely to drive drunk after your DUI, but had to carry the license plate, while the frat-boy-home-on-winter-break doesn't have one, and makes a habit out of drinking and driving?
