Im glad everyone here had a good experience with it. My Dad had it done and has had a few complication's. Everything was fine after the surgey however a few days later he developed a condition called "sands" its when dead cells cover the cornia of your eye and gives you vision as if you were looking through wax paper. He had another procedure done to clear that up and developed "acute glocoma" that is when the pressure is so intense on your eye you may risk losing your vision. He fortunately cleared that up after getting pumped up with antibiotics, but now has to use re-wetting drops all the time because his eye gets dry quickly. Needless to say he went through a lot and maybe his situation may have been that 1% of people that experience side effects but I wont get it dont untill I cant wear contacts anymore. I dont find contacts a hassle i wear them day and night 30 days and toss them. Just figured Id post this just in case people think there arent side effects to this surgery. I also know people who still need to wear glasses after the surgery to see properly especially at night.
I wish I could get it done. I have a phobia of putting anything in my eyes, even eye drops, so until I get over that I'm stuck with glasses :/ I'm glad you have had good results with your laser surgery.
I had it done 6 years ago and it was the best $ I ever spent. Proceedure did not hurt a bit. The first day after, vision was a little fuzzy and it felt like I had sand in my eyes, but not unberably uncomfortable.
Biggest thing to look for is the doctors qualifications. I researched doctors and went to one with experience and one who is a cornia specialist. Now a days it seems anyone can get certified to run a lasic machine (dentists are doing it).
Oh, and find out how old the equipment is.
You eyes are too important to coupon shop for lowest price.
Well, more like this afternoon.....All I can say is WOW.....I can see as if I was wearing my contacts....only thing is I don't have contacts on.....The actual surgery part took no longer than 10 minutes total from the time I walked in the room until the time I was leaving to come home.
Things are a little fuzzy right now but it's not bad at all. The Dr. said that my vision will get better and the fuzziness will go away as a few days pass, but so far I can definitely say it was well worth it. I must have called around to 20 or 30 different places before I found this Dr. The typical cost was around 2500-3600, I got it done for 1700 total. At first I was skeptical but I asked around about this Dr. and there were only good things to be said about him.
I would highly recommend this procedure to anyone who is thinking about doing it.
I hope the hell you have better long term results that I did! I had mine done by one of the leading guys in the nation--Dr. Christenbury in Charlotte, NC. In 2000, $2000.00 per eye. In the last 6 months or so, I noticed I wasn't seeing too well so I had a normal exam--I went from 20/20 in both eyes to 20/40 left and 20/30 right. Supposedly when I initially had the work done, the work was good for as long as you lived and if any "enhancements" which needed to be done over the years, they would be done free of charge. I went back to talk to the prick about it and he basically crawfished on the deal. I felt like kicking his ass and anybody associated with him, but held my temper and walked out. It's either sue the bastard and take my chances, or go back to contacts, or pay more bucks with another Dr. Just my luck I guess. BB
I would love to get this. I can afford it, but it's got me scared. Basically my contacts aren't troublesome enough that I'd risk it yet (and there ARE risks).
If I ever get it done, I am going to the most expensive, experienced doctor in the whole frickin country.
Some crap about the FDA having new guidlines about certain "enhancements". I knew he was full of B.S., but feared if I were to get into a debate over it I might just dot HIS eyes, so I held my peace and just left---in a huff I might add. BB
ya my friends dad almost went blind in one eye.. he was that very tiny % they talk about but he recovered and got the other one fixed as well..scary shit though
