My sister just went on a cruise to a bunch of different destinations and her and her husbands recommendations were as follows

Grand Cayman Islands - gorgeous - definately a place to visit for a week - their most favorite place

Jamaica - dirty, scary, everyone begging for money, poverty... they said they would never go there (I also heard this same thing from my friend who vacationed there for a week - she said you had to stay on the resort and not leave)

I've been to Grand Bahamma Island and stayed at Our Lucaya Resort and it was gorgeous.

Puddles and phat chopper, your right, and thats why I dont drink. Even the smallest amount makes me mean and angry.

Dreamgirl. How long ago was your sister in the caymans? That is me and sana's favorite island also but I had been told that it was pretty much destroyed by hurricanes last year. hopefully it is back to how it looked when me and sana went, beautiful.

as for jamaica, yes, its a piece of shit. there are good parts, dunns river falls and some of the resorts and such are very nice but as a whole its not worth it. very dirty island.

Thats good that you dont then, could really fuck you up and your life. I cant imagine being mean when I drink, now the next day when I'm hung over thats a different story. Anyway I'm stopping drinking for a while, I'm sick of being sick and tired, no fun anymore. I'd rather come home and cook myself a good dinner and sit in front of the DLP. Thats my idea of a good night.

What part of the island did you stay at? Where did you stay? Did you golf or scuba dive, if so how was it? What month did you go and how was the weather?

                Would you reccomend going there?

                  Jack Tar Village

I remember golfing but I'm not sure where - it was really nice. Scuba diving was down the beach a ways but it was decent. They had horse stalls for paid horseback tours but I got to know a few of the locals kids that worked there and they took me all over the place (I was 16 or 17 I think).

What month did you go and how was the weather?

It was sometime in the summer and the weather was excellent.

The Island was awesome and I took off with some people I met there. They showed me all sorts of things you couldn't have seen on any of the tours. My parents almost killed me for leaving with the locals all of the time but I just did what I wanted to - I was on vacation and I figured I would just deal with the consequences when vacation was over :D. It wasn't smart to just take off all over a foreign island with people I had just met but they meant no harm and were nice enough to show hospitality that you couldn't get around here.
Here is a link to where I stayed.

The only thing that I will say is that I though it was one of the best places I had been to up unitl that point. I have stayed at much nicer places since then but that was several years ago and I wasn't paying so I wasn't as picky with the amenities. When you have to pay for stuff you never seem as happy IMO. I would tell you that the island and the beaches are totally cool and they have a ton of history there if you have the time (we stayed 2 1/2 weeks). I have been all over the Carribean on cruises etc and the DR still had really nice beaches compared to some of the other places I have been.
