  • My dog passed away

Ive never felt this way before. It was a German Shepard I had since I was in the 6th grade, had her about 13 years now, im 24. She had a few litters since 2000. So we had three dogs here, all German Shepards.

For this past month or two, something happend to her. She had arthitis (i dunno how to spell it). But one day she could get up. Like as if her hips hurt or something. We let her rest, after we saw her limping. But as the days went by, she couldnt go take a dump anymore without getting it all over herself. This week or about 2 days ago we noticed that she wouldnt eat anymore and on her hip, there was flies all over her. The area smelled bad, like as if something dead. We had her isolated from my other dogs.

Well yesterday and all night she was crying. Never heard a dog cry so much before. We were gonna take her to the vet to put her to sleep so she wouldnt suffer anymore. But today in the morning, i asked my mom for her and she said that shes been quite now. As we saw through the window, she looked dead. So we check and sure she was.

On my way to school, never cried so much. I grew up with this dog. She was cool, playful, and when i was down she would be there next to me cheering me up, licking me. And even her eyes, when she would look at us, she saw us with love. She will never be replaced. I miss her

So sorry for your loss Bro! To me it's just as bad as losing a family member. I will keep you in my prayers and hope it helps you get through this time.

sorry brother, just try to focus on the good times you had with her. She's not suffering anymore and not in anymore pain. I do feel for you, but keep your head up man.

she was an awesome dog. I will post some pics of her. Today after work, i had to dig up a 3-4 feet deep hole, buried her a while ago.

Thanks u all. I will have alot of good memories of her. My other two dogs are down. Havent been wanting to play or do anything. Their just there like if there thinking or something. Its hard, she was a part of the family and its like losing a member of the family. Im never gonna replace her with any dog, just gonna keep my other two ones. Maybe when I have a place of my own. The good thing like Phatchopper said, at least shes not suffering anymore, shes in a better place now resting.

I'm sorry to hear that bro - was it hip dysplasia? I lost my very first dog (german sheppard) to that when I was 11-12? My dad had to put her to sleep while I watched...

im guessing so it was that. She all of a sudden couldnt walk for a while. She would poop on herself. Then her hip bone started popping out.

After a while she started walking again but with a big limp, she wasnt the same.
When we saw her last night and the day before it was some dark color and had flies on it. My mom said that the area had some white worms in it.

I'm really sorry to hear that bro - I didn't want you to have to think about it too much. I just wanted you to know that we can all relate in one way or another...

even humans, at times, pass away after experiencing a little bit of pain. what's different in this case, is that she knew she was loved as well, which not all people can say.
she was loved and a part of your family, and she knew that, and i'm sure in some form or another she's looking upon you gratefully.
keep your head up, and keep those other two dogs as happy!
