Our whole country is so ass-backwards.

-Employers are exploiting illegal immigrants to make a profit. Paying anybody (legal or illegal) to work without paying taxes, social security, etc is a crime. They should go to Jail. Take away the work and illegals will have to apply for citizenship to work in the US (much cheaper and easier than building giant walls and deporting millions of people).

-Nobody should get welfare. Legal, illegal, I don't give a damn. Unless you are physically unable you should be working. There's always work to be done. That being said, the minimum wage is far too low in most places. Anybody who's willing to work 40 hours+ a week should be able to live, maybe not in luxury, but you should be able to live. The people who do things like scrub toilets, wash dishes, and mow grass are being used by people who drive $300,000 cars; and I don't think that's right. You have a small percentage of super-rich people controlling the majority of the money while millions of others struggle and fight over the scraps. This economic divide is what will tear the county apart eventually.

-Being born in America does not make you any better than anybody else. You just got lucky. I hate when people look down on other people because they're lucky. Alot of Americans act like snobs and turn up their noses at people from poorer countries. Those people should be living in some disease infested part of the world with no food to eat.

:bravonew: That economic divide that you spoke of is what tore this country apart during the great depression. But far be it from any of today's filthy rich people to learn from that.

The huge gap between the "haves" and the "have nots" has been the fall of many past cultures and societies. Why can't anyone learn from the past? It's like a mental pitfall almost EVERYONE has - I have to experience this for myself to see if it's really true - WTF...

Well, if you're one of the "haves" than you're not going to care what happens to the "have nots". Even during the Great Depression, the rich were still rich. They did everything in their power to keep what they had even though that meant millions of their own countrymen starved and struggled to survive from one day to the next. They would dump a whole harvest of produce to keep supply low so that they could charge top dollar for their product. Then they would spray it with gasoline and let it rot to keep the poor from taking it. John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath is an awesome book that tells the story of a family during the Depression. He stops every couple of chapters to interject his own commentary on real life at that time. Great book.
