That second tribals lines are too thin in my opinion. I like the first one tho - tribals are sexy.

If I get one it'll be something tribal and it'll be pretty big. Here are couple of ideas. But it wouldn't pass down my shoulder to much.
I dont want to be a jerk or tell you that your ideas are bad but I had the same thinking about getting my first. (the part about wanting it for the rest of your life) I got it when I was 18 and I had wanted the same thing for 3 years. Its actually the worst quality tattoo I have but I still really like it. I dont know how to say it but it seems like everybody is getting some big triabl thing and in a few years the fad will be over. I would suggest you try to get something related to something in your life that you know be interested in forever. I'm really into cars/motorcycles and my first tattoo was two pistons that are kinda morphed with skulls with the rods hanging down and a chain connecting them. Just something to think about. Also, I do kinda like the tribal designs that say something or are a picture of something that is portrayed using tribal lines.

Just my opinion, feel free to disregard and get whatever you want. I'm just trying to help you get what you will be happy with.

I know, I'm only 30-40 miles west of you.(Edit, more like 2 hours north, I got it mixed up with vallejo) What I really meant was, If you like that style then go for it but make sure its not just because thats whats "in" at the time.

I have a cross on my back right now and I'm getting ready to add to it. Just had an appointment with my tattoo artist last Friday. He thinks it will be another 10+ hours of work. I also have 3 others.

Body are is a personal expression. Especially Tattoo art, much of it is reference in time for people. There can be bad Art but never a bad subject, It is relevant to the person that caries the Art

I agree that tribals are played out, but I disagree about getting something that means something. I have two tats, the first one is a dragon (cuz I was born in the year of the dragon), and the second one says "scorpio" in Olde English (cuz I'm a scorpio). At the time I thought "well these mean something" but really they don't and they're boring. Now I want to get them covered with something that is just really amazing and artistic, but doesn't mean anything. Tattoos to me are ART, not a way to express yourself. I can express myself just fine without tattoos. My next tattoo is gonna be something that people look at and go "Holy shit!", not something that "means" something, or "represents" something. Just something trippy and original. Of course, that's just my opinion.....
