England wins 2-0. But the fans will probably still bitch about there team since the goals were scored in the last 10 minutes. Oh and Beckham got another assist on the first key goal. But he will still get hated on the most.

I woke up at 3.30am to catch the last 20 minutes of the game, just in time to see both goals. They didn't seem to excited about scoring. Most players do cart wheels & run around like loose rabbits. Maybe they are too hard on themselves aswell??

Well, those are the first legitimate goals that England has scored in this year's World Cup. I saw the first one, the header.

Well Ghana won 2-0 helping the US out. Now the US can't be officially eliminated with a loss. But it would be best if we could win by 3 or more today.

That was such an inconsistant and horribly ref'd game. Idealy, if we can beat Ghana and Italy beats Czchec we would be in. But if not there will be three way tie (assuming we beat Ghana) and it will come to points that we don't have.

certainly the ref took centre stage, but I'm not sure that it was terribly inconsistent. The second red was marginal, but that's a possible broken ankle with that challenge.

I thought the US did remarkably well with 9 men, given the circumstances. Italy did look a little disorganized for the middle 60 minutes.

That's a "Monday Morning Quarterback" mentality. You can't make that call on the possible broken ankle. There were SO many dives in the game up to that point. The US player got there just a tad late on the tackle. Penalty yes, yellow card.. maybe, red card... definatley not. They were basically saying that tackle with the slight mis-judgement in timing was equal to the intentionall elbow the Italian player threw busting open the US players eyebrow. The incosistancy went both ways though. It makes for a horrible game when the refs don't allow a certain pace of the game to be played. Call it strict or let them play hard. Don't decide it play by play. Don't try to even out the penalties to make it look fair. It never works that way.

i agree on most points, but a red card may be given for a reckless challenge or intent to injure, especially when someone attacks with the cleats up...in the heat of the game, I think it's an understandable call. The game did lack flow due to the penalties though, and the ref is certainly the most memorable feature of the match, by far.

I was just looking at the 3rd game schedules. Each group has the 4 teams (2 games) playing at the same time. I'm going to be flipping channels like crazy on thursday. I wish I had PIP.

They do that so there's less chance of match fixing to ensure favourable draws for the next round...I say get a cable splitter and put 2 tv's side by side...PIP is too small. :D

We prayed Australia could find something on the day, even prayed Brazil had a bad day. Just didn't happen! NEXT!!

The entire WC has been reffed this way and it's very annoying... the refs call the most ticky tacky shit and never let them play on... and they have been throwing out yellow cards like there's no tommorrow

Part of the blame for the yellow cards is on FIFA. They said at the beginning that they would send refs home if they were shy with the yellow card.

Unfortunatley I think Australia had one of there best showings, the same time Brazil did.

With that being said, I think Argentina is looking increadable and think Spain is doing very well too.
