I could have possibly met my demise yesterday.

I was at a friends ranch shooting various guns and decided to try some of his recently pruchased 'reloads' in my .357 revolver. Earlier in the day we were shooting targets, however at this point we ventured to the pond too shoot floating targets. This is what basically saved my ass.

The very first reloaded round that I attempted to fire sounded just fine , but I noticed that nothing hit the water. So I chose not to fire another round, remove the cylinder and look in the barrel and there lodged about half way in the barrel was the projectile.

If I would have been firing at the target on the tree like I was 15 minutes prior I would have never even realized that nothing came out and I would have fired off another round. This would have most likely caused the pistol to explode, quite possibly killing me or at the very least severely injuring me.

It's one of those moments that you revisit in your mind and realize how narrowly you escaped.

Glad to hear you caught it. Same thing happened to a buddy of mine but he wasnt as smart/lucky as you. I wasnt there but he fired the shotgun and he said it was really quiet and wierd. He says he looked in the barrel but the next shot blew up the barrel because a piece of the wadding was stuck in the middle of the barrel. He lost a lot of blood and has had 2 of 3 surgeries on his hand but he (and you) is lucky to be alive. The piece of metal went in his palm and out the back side of his wrist. He has to stick to cardio for a few months still.

glad you are ok big homie....

that's exactly I never shoot reloads. If you are just doing target practice messing around, why not use wad-cutters or semi-wad-cutters? Just a thought.

          again, glad u r safe....

Reloads may be cheaper but at what cost, not worth it bro, buy products from companies like winchester and remington, at least you could sue them!
