I have a windows vista question. Everyone has probably seen the MAC and Windows Vista commercial with the security guy standing next to the PC. Every time the PC goes to do something, the security guard says Allow or Cancel. That is so true. I installed a copy of Vista on my PC and have everything up and running okay, but now I have that Allow/Cancel window popping up alot. It says that my account settings is what is causing it, but I can't figure out for the life of me where to change the settings to lower the security settings in order to get it to quit doing that. Anyone know how??????????

One other thing. I put a fresh copy of Vista on. I have one driver that I can't figure out what it is talking about. Every time that I reboot, it says it has found new hardware, Simple Communications controller. I let it search for the driver and no luck. I installed the drivers that came with my motherboard and it didn't help. I downloaded a Vista version of my driver package for the motherboard. No luck. I have a NVidia Video card, but installed the drivers and it works fine. I think I have a PCI USB card in there with an extra 4 usb ports. Could that be what is causing all of this? If so, I guess I would need to download the drivers for that???

    Any input would be appreciated.

Try "Internet Options" followed by "Security" followed by "Custom Level" and then enable/disable whatever authentication codes/active x controls/scripts etc you want to allow/block...

ya, no need for it for along time. the only reason i can see of having it is if you buy a new PC with it. XP is just fine for me. next computer I get will be a Mac.

My dad is in the same boat as you Bouncer. He says the next one will be a MAC. I put Vista on my PC to see what all of the fuss is about. I'm not going to just walk away with a few minor problems. So far I have everything back up and running like it was on XP. The only big difference I can see is the quality of the video is much much better when I output to my plasma. I use my computer as my video player when I watch movies on it. I read a big review about Vista and most people are projected to not load it on their PC unless they buy a new computer. So far, I don't notice anything that is great about it. Just my .02........

Bought a new laptop with this crap on it - it's too "pretty" for me - everything is a bunch of icons and junk - I like lists - all of the Microsoft applications are a nightmare to learn too - never good to be handicapped by new software in the middle of a six week crash course summer term with 3 upper level finance/management courses!!!
