  • Brock Lesnar (former WWE) now MMA

I don't if anyone remembers Brock Lesnar from wrestling, but he made his MMA debut recently in K1. Not a bad debut.

He definitely has a great start as far as ground game.

Lesnar wrestled at Webster High School in Webster, South Dakota where in his senior year managed to have a 33-0 record. Lesnar later attended the University of Minnesota on a full wrestling scholarship, where his roommate was fellow professional wrestler Shelton Benjamin who also served as Lesnar's assistant coach. Lesnar won the 2000 National Collegiate Athletic Association wrestling championship as a heavyweight after placing second in 1999. Prior to joining the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Lesnar also wrestled at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, North Dakota. Lesnar finished his amateur career as a four-time all-American, two-time big-ten Champion and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college.

I remember that guy, he was and still is a BEAST. It would be interesting to see him work his way up through the UFC. Wonder how he would do with the likes of Cro Crop, Coture, or Arlofski(sp)

From what I hear Royce Gracie is one of his trainers.

Well, since he can't juice in MMA, we'll see how well he does against a real name.

Real name? Of scripted sports entertainment maybe. MMA has plenty of stars. They don't need a former actor/athlete to make them succesful by any means. MMA has already taken the sports world by storm on it's own.

WWE is mainstream...Mainstream name = big money..... I think that is the big issue in those MMA leagues. Its still a cult sport..Werent they trying to sign Craig Titus at one time,As an obvious novelty. for the loot.

You don't make any sense. Brock Lesnar is hardly a guy 'off the streets'.

Wow, you just made it abundantly clear that you have absolutely no idea about MMA. UFC is mainstream. It's already left boxing in the dust. Cult sporting events aren't covered on mainstream corporate media outlets like ESPN.

Randy Couture, Matt Hughes, Mat Lindland, Kevin Randleman, Mark Coleman, Mark Kerr (at one time).

These were all wrestling background and all done very well in MMA, it seems that if you had to pick one discipline that reigns dominant its wrestling. Clearly you need more than just that but guys with a good wrestling back ground can do well and Brock is a monster. Doesn't look quite the same without the juiced look although I'm sure he's on plenty GH to help recovery and maybe some slin, he still looks a beast and very strong.

I think He's set to face Hong Man Choi (7 ft 2 in 360lb) in a K1 heroes matchup (K1 MMA, not kickboxing)

I think he takes his training very serious for MMA and will do real well and make good money, he's made the move at just about the right age and is nasty enough to be a success, I can't see anyone stopping him if he gets a good grounding but he certainly aint ready for Fedor yet in MMA rules

Espn...Damn I didnt even know that. Only FX covers that sport in my area. Its not very popular here. and we were the only ones who would host the events when it was hardcore.Carolina and Colorado.... Well Charlotte and Denver
