I'm sorry, but obama has said some of the stupidest shit i've ever heard.

    Sunday , July 15, 2007

    CHICAGO —
Standing before a church congregation that has witnessed inner-city violence firsthand, Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Sunday that more must be done to end a social ill that is "sickening the soul of this nation."

Obama told churchgoers at the Vernon Park Church of God on Chicago's South Side that too many young lives are being claimed by violence and more must be done to combat the problem.

"From South Central L.A. to Newark, New Jersey, there's an epidemic of violence that's sickening the soul of this nation," the Illinois senator told the crowd. "The violence is unacceptable and it's got to stop."

Nearly three dozen Chicago students have been killed this year, according to Chicago Public Schools. Obama said that figure is higher than the number of Illinois serviceman who've died in Iraq in 2007.

"We need to express our collective anger through collective action," Obama said.

He said the government needs to permanently reinstate an assault weapons ban and close regulatory loopholes that protect unscrupulous gun dealers.

He also said government should support and fund more after-school programs to keep kids off the streets. But some of the burden must also be shouldered by residents who need to do more to raise and protect at-risk children, he added.

"We have an entire generation of young men in our society who have become products of violence, and we are going to have to break the cycle," Obama said. "There are too many young men out there who have gone down the wrong path."

He later added, "There's a reason they go out and shoot each other, because they don't love themselves. And the reason they don't love themselves is because we are not loving them enough."
Is he serious? Maybe we should all be giving out hugs in the ghetto. Does he have anything new to add to the table that hasn't been tried before?

When I was watching the democratic debate yesterday it seemed like the same old shit. Everyone finding ways to answer questions with their talking points and not answering the question. One question was from a woman who works at planned parenthood. She asked where everyone stands on sex education with age appropriate material. They all had some form of answer to do with educating kids against sexual abuse.

Who cares what someone's name is. Barack Obama isn't muslim so I think that pretty much ends your stance here. Is there another reason you don't like him? I feel like your next post is going to say, "I won't vote for Barack because he's muslim".

Sorry, Shibby, but this is pretty obtuse and IMO offensive. Many of our previous presidents were "ridiculously obsessed with God" and were great leaders. On the other hand, not everyone who claims to believe in God actually lives like they do. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

I think the point shibby is making is that, bush tends to let his religion lead some of his choices as being a leader. Seems that most are the wrong decisions.

Yes, unfortunately many of his decisions have made no sense. But that's why I said that everyone who claims to believe in God doesn't actually live like they do. It's easy to cross the line from faith to religion. I don't think the two are the same.

agreed. many great leaders were very religious. Gen Patton was border line insane religious. if you can get the job done right, i don't care if it is guided by religion or not.

Patton could run a better country from the grave than clinton and obama combined, on their best day.

Stem cell research is the basis to finding the cure for a lot of diseases like cancer. Not to mention being able to grow new organs or limbs. Why should we let religion hold us back. Do you feel like you're killing a chicken when you make an omelet? Probably not.
