  • Misinformation

I know most of you have had this experience and I have before to some extent. I just had to tell someone though since most of my friends wouldn't understand what I was talking about.

I was at the gym Saturday working out and I started working in with the owner of my gym. We got to talking and I figured I would just mostly listen as he has been lifting for over 20 years.

So one of the things he tells me is that I shouldn't eat brown rice, its too high on the glycemic index. He also said I shouldnt eat too many carbs or gain too much weight. I should find my ideal weight and stick to that. For me, my ideal weight is going to be as big as I can get.

I realize he owns more of a "health club" than a gym but it has all the equipment I need and is very close to home. This guy also swears by the behind the head barbell mililtary press.

Maybe you had to be there but I almost wanted to tell him about the near 4000 calories I eat a day just to see his reaction. I really want to talk to him more to see what else he has to say.

Speaking of gym's...I currently work at/go to the sloppiest gym in the world. It seems like all of the guys who have been going there the longest are the ones who NEVER rerack their weights. Whats up with that?

all about the management of the gym. if they aren't strict with putting weights back, people will take advantage. the owner of my gym give one warning and then they say "find somewhere else to workout." i have seen like 3 people get the boot. lmao.

Thats the funny part, When we were doing barbell inclines and he was only lifting 40 lbs more than me. For having over 16 years on me he's not that much bigger.

I know he ownes the gym you go to but there is nothing wrong with some friendly conversation or info exchange. Last time someone tried to tell me stuff like that I nicely told him things has changed a bit since his prime days.

I see your point but to be honest, I don't really have that kind of personality. I would rather listen and smile then argue with the guy. Maybe after I'm done bulking this year I'll ask him if I should really stop eating rice. Asking what he recommends is a good idea too. At very least, it might give us all a laugh.
