  • Some of the cars I'm looking at.

well, its almost that time. i'm graduating in may so im getting rid of the rx8 and looking for a new beast. dont get me wrong the rx8 is great, but its getting up there in miles, being so damn low to the ground is getting old, and frankly i want something with a little more power. (although i will admit i will miss taking curvy interstate entrance ramps at 80 mph) i know i made a thread a few months ago about getting a truck, but fuck that, i am going to get the car i want now while i am living in an apartment with no kids. i figure ill get 15K for the rx8 so ill be able to finance about 20K through my bank as soon as i graduate and get a job. my credit is great so getting financed wont be a problem. anyway here are the rides i am considering and some pros and cons of each. car guys please add pros and cons if you can think of any. the prices beside the cars are what i think i can get them for after all the packages and options i will want.

***=I know someone who can get me this car for this price

    1) 2008 Mustang GT - $29,000

    Pros:
    -Looks Great
    -Easily Modified
-300 HP, 0-60 in less than 5 seconds
    -Shifting feels great
-Handles much better than past mustangs

    Cons:
    -Everyone has one
    -Its a Ford

    2) 2008 Dodge Charger R/T Rd&Trck - $28,000***

    Pros:
    -Looks pretty good
    -5.7L 345 HP V8
-4 doors and plenty of space
-Family member gets big discount on Dodge products
-26 mpg on highway (4 cylinders shut off while cruising)

    Cons:
-Heavy car limits its acceleration and handling
    -Only comes in automatic
-Doesnt stand out unless you do some mods on the body

    3) 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR - $34,000***

    Pros:
-2.0L Turbo 4 cylinder, puts out 291 HP!!
-With light modding and good tune will run 12s in the 1/4 mile.
-Very few EVOs on the road
-Great Handling (Surely better than my RX8)
-Looks tons better than the older EVOs
    -All Wheel Drive Standard

    Cons:
-Slightly slower and heavier than the outgoing EVO IX
-Every high school kid with a modded EVO or STI will want to race me
    -Reliability of a Mitsu
-I've heard horror stories about trying to get warranty work done by the Mitsu dealer

    4) ALL NEW BMW 135i - $37,000

    Pros:
-3.0L Turbo Inline 6 cylinder pumping out 300 HP.
    -0-60 < 5 seconds and 1/4 mile in the low 13's or high 12's
-THE BMW WARRANTY!!! 4 years or 50,000 miles you pay for NOTHING! Oil changes, tune ups, everything is paid for!
-With the metallic paint and some tinted windows this thing will look classy as hell!
-Should hold its resale value very nicely

    Cons:
    -$37,000 is getting pretty expensive
-BMWs all look pretty similar even though they look good

So there it is basically. I hope all my info was right and I am sure there are other pros and cons i havent thought of so if you have some words of wisdom for me please weigh in.

out of thoes I would get a mustang. I realy like the way they look on the out side. silly but I never looked on the inside. I actuall want a mustang to turn into a drag car.

IMHO, I think Ford's interior design is among some of the most unattractive I've seen.

Mistubishi's typically are not very dependable. In fact, our family mechanic refuses to work on them

the BMW would be my choice. the first 3 wouldn't even be a consideration for me.

actually, this would be my choice. its in the BMW's price range. Mercedes-Benz USA | Browser Upgrade Required C350 Sport Sedan. I like Merc over BMW.

Well that Benz is nice but I wouldnt be able to handle that price tag. The starting MSRP is the same price as the BMW would be after all the options I need. Plus add in a heavier car and 30 less HP. Just not for me I guess. But it is badass.

I'm not so much looking at the BMW because of its luxury. More because of its performance, reliability, and warranty. Just trying to figure out if that all justifies the higher price.

i think you will be disappointed if you go from the Mazda to the ford, Dodge, or mitsu. go with the BM.

Yeah I agree. I guess it all depends on the starting pay at whatever job I get. But with a B.S. in Business and a high GPA hopefully I'll find something good. Its just like me to get a nice ass car and live in a cheap ass apartment so I can afford it.

Oh and another plus for the BMW.... When you purchase one you get a free day at a performance driving place to have some fun with it for the day! Definately a thumbs up for that.

that kinda of plan might sound good but its really a terrible choice. living conditions are a very big factor in how you perform at work and deal with people. don't be like the idiot that lives in a trailer park and drives a Benz.

Nah its not a bad place at all actually. My GF is already there and I plan on moving in after I get out of school. It is a one-bedroom but its clean, has good square footage and it has everything we need. Decent neighborhood too. Pretty low price for what you get.

Anyway, I'm looking at some more vids and reviews of the BM and the thing just looks too good to be true. At only 35K I'm afraid that road is going to be packed with these things.

I'm calling it. It's going to be the guys favorite car of the year. Just like the RX8 was when he drove it in 04. Damn I got good taste!

The quote from whatever the main british guy was pretty close to this...

"Out of all the cars I've driven this year, I'm pretty sure this is the best."

Now I'm sure he wasn't saying it was the most fun to drive but I think he was taking into consideration price, performance, and practicality.

To start of I gotta say the Mustang has to have had the worst interior of any car. I don't know what it is, but I've never been inside of an American car that made me feel comfortable.

I would, of course, go with the BMW. Lancer would be my second choice, but its not a daily driver.

C350 is a completely different car. Besides, we're talking twin turbo. A chip will simply make the 1 series blow the Merc out of the water in terms of performance.

                              BTW, BMW, not BM everyone.
