So true!!! People should be planning as if social security won't even exist by the time they retire, because there's a pretty good chance the system is going to collapse. You have to save enough to live the way you want to live without expecting any government help. I've been contributing to my RRSP (I think that's like a 401k in the US?) since I was 21, in addition to my non-RRSP stock holdings. Sure, sometimes it's tempting to cash in some stocks I've done really well on and upgrade from my Accord to a BMW or a Lexus...but then I ask myself whether I want a flasy car now or if I want to live comfortably and stress-free when I'm old. Having a more practical car now seems easier to deal with than being old and on a tight budget.

Also I think about it this way. This may be my ONLY chance to have a nice, fast, badass car. Say I wait and save some money first. I get to 25 years old, and out pops a kid or two. Well now I really can't afford it because I have to pay for my kids, mortgage payments, etc. Ok so I wait until my kids are all grown up and moved out. Ok but now I am 48-50 years old. The year is now 2036. Are we even driving cars as we know them today anymore? Everyone might have similar HP electric golf carts by then. And I will just imagine the muscle cars and speed demons that don't exist anymore.

I am just not willing to take that gamble. :)

I don't know why I didn't say this earlier...but I was thinking about it when we were talking about Nascar. If you do end up ordering a 135...take European delivery. The car will be less expensive and you will get a trip to Europe, all for less than you will get the car for over here. We've done this for 3 cars. Theres nothing like it. Besides you can then drive down toe Nurburring and ride on the Ring Taxi with a hot chick. And you can visit Stuttgart, aka Porsche.

Yeah I have thought about this but I just havent had time to get together all the prices and how much I would save compared to the plane ticket.

It does sound great though. That along with BMW's badass warranty makes it a tempting offer. But the more I think about the near $40K price tag the more realistic my thoughts get. Just have to see what job I land on out of school.

The 128 is a strong car. I am considering one of those to replace a 540.

Word. With a simple tune, intake, and exhaust the 128 would still be a mustang GT killer.
