i get your point that smart phones are not as good as PDA's. but my point and i think you will agree is that in every case PDA's are outdated and far inferior to a notebook.

this is where i am coming from. shibby said a few weeks ago that the most he can afford for a new tv is like $150 dollars. i am just trying to point out to him that if he is trying to save some money, a PDA is the last thing you need. hell, even if you have all the money in the world i wouldn't buy a PDA.

well, i can say that i have no need for a pda. but all of our doctors use them...so just because i don't have a need doesn't mean that nobody else does.

and i'm with you - i'd never spend money on one. even if one was given to me, i'd never use it...

She is almost at the end of her undergrad Biology program. She has just a few classes in the summer after this. She is in a lot of extra labs, but she also has some of her random electives to work on. She will be going straight into her masters and will also be working. So you think that keeping everything organized on paper and carrying a jump drive around with her and trying to find a computer to use it on is a much better option?

Yea, I think she should make the best of what she has and save the money.

or like Goliath said, she could get a notebook. i dont even think she needs the ultra portable one. i got my notebook for $399 after taxes and shipping from dell. she could get a little carrying case. my notebook is not heavy at all. that way she would have something far more useful and you will be able to use it long after her classes are over.

Shib, I have a almost new palm PDA I'll send to you for free. I think it is a year or two old. I'll have to get the model of it but I know it is a palm.

Dell Vostro 1000 Laptop Product Details

its the vostro 1000. i got mine around black friday and the specs on mine are a little better then the one they are selling. but still, its a pretty good deal for a notebook.

and yes, that is dell small business. just make up a company name and order it. its much cheaper then ordering with dell home and the buisness models dont come loaded with any of the free wear crap like aol and all that shit.

^ Actually it wasn't mine. I replaced one of our CEO's PDA with a BlackBerry last year and he gave it to me. I've had a BlackBerry for years now. Never bought a PDA before.
