Hey B- one thing I forgot to mention before, is that many of the All Inclusive resorts have a lot of water sports for FREE. It's included in your package. When we went to Riviera Maya last year, snorkel equipment, paddle boats and all kinds of things were included at the resort. Same goes for Cancun.

When we were in Cancun @ the Royal Solaris, the staff would usually sponsor a night downtown, and I think it was like $30...and that included transportation and all you could drink. But trust me- (and this is coming from the QUEEN of the party), after a day of drinking, swimming, & sunning, you really don't feel like going out at night. As I said before, the restaurants were actually amazing at the Solaris. And, with All Inclusives, you do run the risk of not so good food.

We took a day trip to Cozumel when we were in Cancun, so you really could knock that out in 1 day. No offense phat, but Cozumel seemes a little too low key for me, with not a whole lot to do.

My idea of a tropical vacation is to eat, drink, & be merry. We go there to relax. My idea of relaxing is not having to cook my own food, or make sure I have money every time I have a drink or want something to eat. If I want to sight see and carry a purse, I go to Europe.

Yeah I guess for some people they want everything taken care of, but for me its more fun to be involved with the day to day life and really get to see all aspects of a different culture. I seriously enjoyed riding a bicycle to the local store to pick up some lunch meat or catching a ride with some locals. It just seems like you get more of an in depth look into a place if you can venture outside of an all inclusive resort that has your whole vacation planned for you before you are even there. But this is personal preference and I'm going to guess that B would rather have his ass waited on then be running around trying to talk to locals.

I have been there 3 times all were during spring break time. Great time! One thing that was cool was this boat trip they called it "The Booze Cruise" you pay like $20 and its all you can drink on the boat trip then they take you to this islnad and have a real good buffet set up and more drinking and partying. This was awhile ago but I met some girls from New Jersey on that island and hung out with them all week very very hot girls. Real fun place. We should have a superiormuscle convention down there....lol

I hear you. For me though, I wouldn't really trust the food a local store has...I just feel better if it's coming from a hotel who has to adhere to certain health codes.

As for venturing outside the resort...when we were in the Dominican on our honeymoon, we took 2 day trips- one on a catamaran, which was AMAZING...And one that was like a Jeep trip exploring the culture & countryside. So, you really can do both.. :)

yea, every time we have been to an all inclusive, we have also done things outside of the resort.

well being pampered is not something i really like. i like to have a good time but for example, i would rather go get my own drink then have someone bring it to me.

If you go it is well worth the long drive via bus to check out Chichen Itza. It is amazing to see the old Myan ruins and climb to the top of one of the pyramids. Excellent for pictures, absolutely amazing. Chichen Itza - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . Ill tell you what, you've never seen poverty until you've been through that area, which will really make you appreciate what you have. We went with the all inclusive and it was worth it to me, the free drinks made up for it. Really though Cancun is great you will love it. Don't drink the water and don't even try counting the volkswagon beetles, you'll loose count quick haha.

PV is nicer, especially for couples. It might be a little more expensive though.
