this is sana, i think she should do it but don't commit for a year. what happens if he's not worth the 100 bucks a month? he doesn't show her anything more than what you can do and/or he doesn't deliver any results?

i just can't imagine committing that much money and ending up with a dud. see if she can do like 3 months instead. that should be more than enough time for her to see if he can deliver the results he's promised.

Agreed, also she should check with the gym, does she have the option to change the trainer if things don't workout,(like not getting any results)

I completely agree with Sana. You should never sign up for a year with anyone until you know they are worth it. I have worked in many gyms and there are to many trainers who are great at selling but aren't great at helping you work towards your goals, only the goals the trainer thinks is good for you. Also training is sold by the session not by the month. He says he will spread it over a year to make the price sound good but he will continue to finagle ways to have her use a session more than once a week. He should be cool with it since if you keep buying the sessions in smaller packages it will be more money for him in the long run. If he's not cool about it, then you know right there that all he is trying to do is sell.

Well when she gets home from work I am going to get more details. Going to figure out what she signed, and if she got a copy of it. I might have to go with her sometime to talk to someone up there and see what the deal is. I definately am going to suggest that she see if she can switch it to monthly instead of weekly. I doubt having the guy there every week will give her any better results than once a month. We'll see

IF she is really going to get the most out of it and he is good, once a month won't be worth it. Maybe after she has been seeing him and had good training for like 6 months, then I could see every other week being useful so that he can tweak things.

I agree - once a month isn't going to do anything for her...

                        what a dipshit. lol.

when she gets home, say you would rather her try it for 2-3 months instead of a year.

So seeing a trainer once a week so he can tell her the same shit over and over again is much more cost effective than giving her a program, and working with her once a month, while still being able to chart her progress?

It's not just about giving her a routine. It's also about teaching form and technique. That takes time to learn so that you can feel it when it's off and for you to be able to make corrections yourself. Just because she has on a chart how much weight and reps she does doesn't mean she is doing it correctly.

I just don't know much about personal training I guess. The only thing I know is its expensive.
