I would talk to her and tell her that its great that she is taking an active role in progressing her level of fitness, but that a year long contract is not good business ethic on the trainers part. What if their personalities dont mesh.... this is huge in this business. Shes out 1200 bucks because she doesnt like the guy any more?

Show her my post... right from the horses mouth

Well the plot thickens. When she got home we talked about it. She said she really liked the workout, and the trainer was very supportive and motivational. So that was good news. I told her what you guys said about doing it weekly for the first few months, and taking it from there. Well she checks her voicemail. The trainer had actually called her, and get this shit... The guy that trained her yesterday wouldnt even be her trainer! So basically, he talked her into signing a contract, and now she hasnt even met her real trainer yet. Hell, for all we know she could have a different trainer every week. So she is going up there today. Either she is going to see if the original guy that trained her, who she liked, will keep training her... or she is going to try and get out of the contract. If they won't let her out of the contract I'm going to go up there and talk to someone, and maybe report them to the BBB. That is just complete horse shit.

well once a week would be enough to show her the ropes and guide her. she could work out more times a week by herself and just see the trainer once a week.

i agree with what you are saying though, it is a big waste of money.

i dont mean to be so negative grinder but from what i gather, you guys should really be holding onto every penny. no disrespect to your girl but making a commitment of $1200 for something that she really has no idea how it will turn out is not the smartest idea.

Don't worry I agree. Especially considering she is already in great shape. We'll see what she calls and tells me today....

Yeah I know, but she had a 10:30 with the guy today already, and the next time I'll be off work and the trainers will be there to talk to will be Monday. I basically told her everything to say today, so hopefully she will come through. I know on our gym membership contract, we had like a week to get out of it, so I'm thinking the training contract might be the same. So if things dont get better today I will call their corporate office and get out of the contract.

grinder -- think of it this way -- your paying some idiot to fondle your girl 1200 $ a year -

what if she likes it :D

on a serious note -- most trainers dont know there ass from a hole in the ground -- imo a waste of funds bro -- specially these days

Well she called me back yesterday. Apparently when my fiance mentioned that she might end up training for one of those figure and fitness competitions, the dude got all excited and said he would train her for whatever we could afford. He said he'd train her for free if he had to. (Slightly exaggerated I'm sure.) He says that she has the perfect build for those competitions if she packs on a little mass. I went up there to meet one of the guys she would potentially be working with. I simply sat in as he discussed her diet for about 30 minutes. Everything he said seemed to be on point. (He was a competitive natural BB for about 10 years he said.) I had to go to work before we started talking about money. I was actually more interested in hearing his knowledge to make sure he wasn't full of shit. He really seemed to know what he was talking about. And the original guy would be the one training her. She told them yesterday that she wasn't going to get dumped off to someone she had never met. As far as cost, I think she might end up being good for 60-70 a month, with weekly visits. And after a few months if she isn't liking it then we won't be obligated to keep going. So all in all, it worked out all right.

Haha. The dude is old enough to be her dad. She's not really into that. :D

So just when I think everything is going fine, something happened to give me doubts. So im at the gym tonight with my girl. It is late since she had to work, so basically she is just doing the workout the guy wrote down for her. Its a shoulder workout. She starts with her shoulder presses. After 2 sets she says, man my shoulders and triceps already hurt so bad from my chest workout yesterday I don't feel very good about this workout. And I'm like, back up, you did chest yesterday? Why are you doing shoulders the day after chest?? She says, "well he asked me what workout I felt like doing the next day, and I told him it had been a while since I did shoulders. So he said to do shoulders and he wrote down this workout." So basically her workout was shit tonight because her shoulders and tris were already burnt from her chest workout yesterday. Am I missing something? Isn't it pretty basic that you don't do two workouts that use so many of the same muscles back to back?? I'm having a little talk with the guy tomorrow...

Dude this sounds like a total load of shit this guy is running. You're right you don't do shoulders the day after chest. Maybe do them the same day, maybe.

I think you need to just end it and get her out of there. Most of these trainers are out there to make the place money and not help one bit.
