That's a really broad statement considering how many types of terrier breeds there are. With that said, they're a very intelligent breed and if trained correctly and disciplined correctly from the start I honestly don't foresee any problems.

How ya gonna try to discourage a man from his dog....women :nono:

I understand it's a broad statement, and there are several different types of terriers. My point was, that my experience; with two separate breeds of terriers, is that they are a TON of work. Yes, discipline and training plays a part. HOWEVER, there are breeds that require a lot more exercise & attention than others. IN MY EXPERIENCE, I have witnessed that these two breeds of terriers fit this mold.

Secondly, I am not discouraging him, I am trying to provide him with useful information so that he doesn't make a bad choice, and quite possibly regret his decision. Just trying to help him make an informed decision. My dad worked for Purina for 10 years, and thought he had all of the ins and out of every breed when he picked out the Welsh Terrier we ended up having to get rid of.

Leave it to a man to bury his head in the sand and wait for the woman to work it out.

          Thanks for the posts guys

I am aware of the energy of these dogs and it is because of this that i have chosen the English Bull Terrier. not only to me are they the best lookin of the bunch but like iv said before iv had nothing but small dogs in the past that i cannot seem to play with, without having them get scared or have me being afraid of hurting them. I need a dog with some balls.

it has been my dream to have this breed of dog for the longest time and i dont think anything could discourage me enough to make me not want to get one. Like stated above, with proper training im sure things will be fine.

thanks all for the posts and concerns :)

Yeah you're right - but I guess any dog could do my little one serious harm, so...

But at the same time, since he's so tough, he puts up with pretty much everything. :P

95% of the dogs out of that kennel are that chocolate color. When you click the link, the dog that comes up is my dogs grandfather - he looks a LOT like that one.

yeah I can see that logic too, certainly a beautifully powerfull looking dog, I'm just a bit of a woos with dogs I guess. One of those things could probably screw my leg and I'd just offer kleenex:rofl::D

I did get in a cage with lion cubs in South Africa though, that was probably one of the coolest things I've ever experienced
