The unions suck, the CEO's are terrible. Time for a free market.

I'm against bailouts. They should be prosecuting the fuckers that orchestrated this mess - CEOs!

Unions are why people in the non union workforce have any health care at all, any paid vacations and paid holidays, any 401k or pensions, and retirement plans.

I don't agree with getting rid of unions but they do need to fix the issue of protecting the shit bags.

you think companies will pay any health care if they don't have to? Do you think you will get any paid vacations or holidays if they don't have to?

My problem with the bailouts is that the companies basically get to be saved and re-sell what they already sold once and in turn making even more money. Or at least this is how it seems, I could be way off since I don't follow it to closely.

That is wrong. Completely wrong. With all do respect my bro, you're not in the work force you have know idea. I am in the IBEW Local 824. I hate the fact that shit bags are protected by an antiquated union policy system, but if it wasn't for the union I would not make the money I do or have the paid stellar benefits I do. They are absolutely needed expecially now that companies are trying reduce compensation and get rid of benefits every chance they get.

I hear ya, but come on...no way in hell those greedy fucks working the line at the big 3 should be getting paid 75 bucks an hour to be doing a non-skilled job I could train a chimp to do in two weeks. It's a big part of why the Japanese automakers have been trouncing them.

I saw a show where they broke down the bloated salaries/benefit packages of the Big 3's labour force compared to their Japanese counterparts; basically the American automakers start out 2000 bucks in the hole on average for every car they roll out onto the line. So that means when the Ford Whatever and the Toyota Whatever are priced the same, the Toyota has an additional 2 grand worth of engineering and features built into it. No wonder they are kicking Ford's ass!

The only way it's going to work for the Big 3 is for the current union contracts to be torn up, and for people to be re-hired at a reasonable rate. In fact, that should be a condition of any bail-out...otherwise it's going to amount to nothing but a band-aid that allows them to survive on life support a short while longer.

That's horseshit. I am a skilled trademan for Chrysler and I don't make $75 an hour. I make the same fucking wage that Toyota pays their tradesmen. The media has added in the costs of retirees into our wage to say thats what we make. So I guess we should just go kill all the retirees that helped build this country?

you guys sticking up for the union need to look at the bigger picture. ford, GM, etc.. cannot hope to compete with non union toyota, honda, etc..

the unions are by far the biggest reason for the US automakers problems.

at that time, unions were needed and the us automakers didnt have non union companies IN America making far better profits.
