anyone that says, "you just don't get it, you don't have the problem."

no, you are the people that don't get it.

these people have shit for genetics, i understand that. they have a body that just loves to store body fat and they have the metabolism of a turtle. i understand all of this. THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE. they need to understand that they cannot eat like the normal person and they need to be accountable for themselves and what they are eating. if they eat less calories then they burn they will lose weight, this fact cannot be argued.

My point was that people are definitely willing to risk death for surgery.

maybe not but do not sit there and say that these people do not want the surgery. if they didnt they would have done something about the weight via diet.

and just to be clear again, i am not putting down anyone. i just wish i could get the opportunity to try and help some of these people before they go into surgery.

people want to make things so complicated and it really isn't complicated at all!! i have no doubt in my mind that if any of these super obese people would dedicate themselves to what i am saying here, found out how many cals a day they burn and consume 200 - 500 less then that over a few years, they would not need the surgery.

I hate to bring up a GNC work example, but I have to in this case just because I get a chance to talk to the public about their health a lot. (At least I did when i worked there full time)

I shit you not I got at least 1 customer a shift tell me they got this surgery. Its not a last resort life saving thing for most people. (Notice I said for MOST people. For some people its either this or death, I understand, but for most others its not)

95% of the people that told me this were middle aged southern women who no doubt eat fried shit every single day. Fuck I even saw the surgery promoted on an INFOMERCIAL the other day. Its going to get to the point where people are just going to get fat so they can eat whatever they want, and plan the surgery for a couple years out.

If you read my initial post again, you are kinda taking what I said the wrong way man.

I readily admitted I wasnt jumping to conclusions and was ready for feedback.

Number 1 killer in America??? You ready for it......HEART DISEASE.......and one of the main causes of HD is? Overweight/obesity.

Yes genes can be beneficial or harmful however you look at the glass..but daily activity and eating habits can shape the bulk of your body's chemistry. Most people that are overweight could control it themselves, and plenty..PLENTY of them want the surgery.

We are an "instant gratification nation" and a "chemical nation", it is pathetic. Dr. Z says that pills/surgery are the cures for everything and everyone believes him. Doctors must be the smartest people around...I mean they do read a lot of books......

                  ..sorry for the rant.

its a little off topic but certainly agree with you on that and im usually the last person to defend overweitght ppl. i could never be a trainer at a gym i have no patitiences for lazy ppl and how they can't stop drinking regular soda. they have no idea what it means to diet. contest prep i fucking starving all the time for weeks. i believe strongly in discipline .when it comes to GP were are not talking about ppl who need to sheld a few lbs or even a lot of lbs. such as the middle age housewife who lives a sedentary lifestlye and eats junk all day and smokes. complains about her w8t. the gastric bypass is severly overweight morbily o beses BMI over %40.0... its a food addiction ppl who overeating have underlining mental or pshycholigical reasons for the overeating. it could be they were molested as children or abusive families or tradgegy. you have to treat the condtiion that is cuasing the overeating. its complicated... its similar to the anorexia... ppl dont understand it... just fucking eat... you look like shit and your going to die. the additition to food which was developed over the persons entire life isnt going to be unravelled in easily and it some cases isnt a realistic gooal which we talk about here all the time. there parents took them out to eat for every meal they are obese before HS. its usually fast food joints which studies have found greasy food is addicting body craves it like cigarettes. its so ingrained into there personality and who they are the temptation for food is so great its like a drug addict living with drug dealers.
