A lot of us have been around each other for years, we know what we can/can not get away with amongst each other. However, we do not know what "color" our guests are, or people that don't post very often, and I'd hate to think we would offend or run someone off because of something said in poor taste.

So in short, yes you can still make fun of rado, because he doesn't care - but no, you can't make fun of mexicans, because that's grouping them all together. :)

And no, you definitely can't say anything about me. :D
Sorry I dont agree. When you call Grinder a hillbiller to me that is the same thing as calling sap a nigger.

I also think we should be able to joke around. I call all my friends racist shit all the time. I dont say it here cuzz its hard to tell the tone sometimes but if I was at a bar with Rado i would call him all kinds of mexican stuff and joke about him mowing my lawn and so on.

      I'm down with this.

Its so difficult to watch for and keep in check, some segments of society and individuals are more sensitive than others and the point is nobody really wants to leave anyone being hurt unless they're an asshole. The n word is use between coloureds no doubt and I hear it on xbox live all the time when half the guys are white.. like.. whats up n...a!

The point is some are more sensitive than others but its easier to police if you just say your not having it. I mean if I had a British pound for every time I've been called an English prick/fag, I'd be able to buy twice as many of your puny dollars because you are all of inferior stock and generally inferior to me!

You're contradicting yourself here. You're saying you think we should be allowed to joke with each other, which I clearly stated was okay because we know it's a joke. Making a joke about someone in the public eye - who is not your friend - is a problem. It makes you appear racist, and it's not good mojo for the board. Not sure why you don't see that we're saying the same thing.

You would be surprised. Adults who have the time to post on forums, etc. Can be just as bad as younger people and far more indigent when you bring it to their attention.

For example, rockets post about Rado. Some people will take offense to that even though he directed it at a person. They are offended that he implies all mexicans do is cut lawns.

I should have chosen my e ample better in my first post. I wasn't trying to say it's a major problem here. It is as serious an issue as you want to make it.

That is essentially the point. It means nothing that he said it to you, the implication that mexicans only cut lawns is what is offensive. That might offend a Mexican eniught to stop them from posting or getting them to send something to an admin. It's a pandoras box of pc.

I understand what your saying but how does someone else know that Rado or Grinder and I know each other? Like I said I do say shit all the time to my friends at home in person even in front of other people I dont give a shit. But I never say anything like that here Cuzz people might not understand.
But I would always laugh when B called rado a lil mexican or Rado called someone else something.

People need to lighten up we have thousands of members but a small groupe that posts everyday. I say fuck the cry babys they dont add shit anyways.

I guess I will speak up here. I was one of the people (assuming there were others) who send a PM to the moderators requesting intervention in this regard.

I am not referring to calling each other names which, while juvenile, has an element of humor in it. However lately, there have been lots of usage of the n-word, references to monkeys and chimpanzees, etc. in angry tones, especially referring to society in general, the President, government, etc.

This kind of rhetoric is unbecoming of any forum, online or otherwise, that aspires to be a place where people can get together in civility and exchange ideas. As a person of color, it is particularly unpleasant to me but I doubt any reasonable person of any ethnicity would find it acceptable. It is not a question of whether "someone cries like a little girl" or "f*** the crybabies, they don't add s*** anyway." It is merely a question of whether we want the board to be a forum of civil debate, or we want to come across as crude and ignorant.

Believe me, I don't personally care if someone uses this language. The world has moved on past race and the people who cling to these views are going to get rapidly left behind. But I see less reason to spend my time in a place that engenders these attitudes and by extension, who knows how many other would-be contributors get turned off by the rhetoric and move on elsewhere?

Also, I agree with Scrumhalf. Besides the fact that racist language makes you sound ignorant and ridiculous, not using it gives you a good reason to come up with better ways to talk shit about each other.
