I agree, it is so close to being a good song to me, but I can't connect with the chorus. Similar to this song YouTube - Alan Jackson - Sissy's Song, it sounds so promising but ends up getting too preachy.

Did you listen to the story though? Aside from "God is great", it isn't religious/preachy/anything like that.

Yea I have heard it many times. If it wasn't the part of the chorus and was put in more subtle, It would feel more like a story and less like a statement. I like it done more like Steve Wariner - "holes in the floor of heaven". It's a better story when it's told in a spiritual manner leaving the source of the spiritual connection to the listener. The end of the "People are crazy" is like that and it's good.

Not really. I may be posting about country today, shaking my ass to something you like at the clubs this weekend, and going to a rock concert next week. I'm just a lot more open minded about music than you are ;)

That's a good song too, but I guess this one to me isn't "spiritual" like you see it - it really just makes me laugh (because he says curse words, etc maybe)

Anyway, his song Good Directions is a favorite of mine too :D

I know this isn't really a big debate, but when faith of any kind is brought into a song it has a direct or indirect message. The specifics (or lack there of) behind that message is what either keeps me engaged or turns me away. Just to be clear, I agree that song is pretty good, just for me there is that little part that keeps it from being great.

you are a religious racist. this is where me and you differ.

me and you have the same general beliefs but you look down on religion, whereas I see the cultural side of it.

what you said above is no different then saying, "that restaurant was really good but if there were no blacks allowed it would have been great."
