The truth of the matter isn't racism. The situation is that people feel most comfortable around people they perceive to be like themselves. It goes beyond skin color, but many people harp on that the most. My big brother from my frat is black, but he was a complete nerd. The color of his skin doesn't matter, I'm more comfortable around him than other brothers who are less like me and white.Originally posted by the art of war View Post

On subject, I don't have a problem with this. If they want to discriminate, they can. It is a private club and they don't have to accept members they don't want. The point of certain clubs is exclusivity.Comment

Agreed, it harks back to the days we walked out of caves, we were tribal from the start and if we were all the same colour it wouldn't make any difference we would find something else. Read again, they can do what they want with the club. But they are also teaching there is something wrong with the black kids simply because of their skin color. I never agree with the promotion of willful ignorance.Comment

I'm done after this post. It is NOT about race, it is about what you perceive to be LIKE YOU. I can be friend with a gay guy that likes to lift and play sports, but I'm probably not comfortable around one that is flamboyant and acts like Perez Hilton. YES, people take an instant look at color of skin because it is the first thing you see. You just said skin color is the first thing you see, that's all I'm implying. Skin color starts the train of thought, after that it's a complex maze. I apologize for misquoting on the club, however, I do not believe that skin color would not hinder an applicant in this instance. This goes for any type of social club/gather to me, and in a lot of ways I agree with you, it is their right.
