Is it worth it to you as a traveler to do it? How much less expensive would it be to fly people like that? Would we realize 70% savings, no. Flying is a big enough hassle, I can't imagine ever doing it if I had to stand on the plane while it was happening. Not to mention all the standing you do at the airport before hand, the frustration of bag handling. Totally not worth the 25% savings they will pass on to me. No thanks.

if it was an hour flight and the savings was $100 bucks, i would do it.

i guess it also depends on what kind of traveling you're doing. if it's a business trip and all you have is a piece of luggage in the cargo area and nothing else, i see no issue, but a lot of people only use carry-on because it give a sense of security to you. my question would be if you still get a designated overhead space.
