Yea, it's like one of those end of world movies where everything just gets suddenly abandoned. I still think that theater looks pretty sweet. It could be turned into like a one screen cinema that shows indy and foreign films during the week and blockbusters on the weekend.Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postdont you find though that with all that mess, somehow its still pretty awesome?
its like looking at those Chernobyl pics, there is something very cool about it all.

yea, its like a time capsule, you can see the moment that everything went wrong and there was no time or money to do anything but leave.Originally posted by Shibby View PostYea, it's like one of those end of world movies where everything just gets suddenly abandoned. yea, that theater would look great re-dun but I think if i was to see it in person i would rather see it like that. you can imagine what it had once looked like.
now i dont want to get into a big thing here with you but i imagine your mind could play some pretty sick games with you if you were to walk around in that theater at night by yourself. i can imagine seeing people dancing up on that stage. i would run from Detroit back to jersey in about 10 minutes. lol

If I had enough spare cash id have one of you go down there as my realtor. There's gotta be some big time bargains to be had even if only land banking. Things are bottoming out now, more job losses to come yeah but businesses are starting to see improvements in some areas already, you could get some great bank forclosure deals there and make some big bucks over 5-10 yrs.

somehow i doubt that. nobody wants to live in Detroit. i dont care if you buy a house for a dollar and make it look like a million dollar house... its still in Detroit. its a dead city with no jobs. that city wont be turned around for 30+ years..Originally posted by Mr incredible View PostIf I had enough spare cash id have one of you go down there as my realtor. The quick fix would be for some big manufacturing to move in and make use of all that skilled labour, hybrid cars?, otherwise it will benefit from any national upturn anyways, just looks so cheapOriginally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postsomehow i doubt that. nobody wants to live in Detroit. i dont care if you buy a house for a dollar and make it look like a million dollar house... its still in Detroit. its a dead city with no jobs. that city wont be turned around for 30+ years..

As Detroit home prices crash, sales are heating up. But with all of the plant closings and layoffs, who's buying? Investors -- some of whom are snapping up five and 10 houses at a time.Originally posted by Mr incredible View PostIf I had enough spare cash id have one of you go down there as my realtor. "I have investors from all over the country and the world," said Jeremy Burgess, co-founder of Urban Detroit Wholesalers, which buys undervalued homes to rehab and rent or to sell to other investors. "One Lithuanian woman just bought a second house."
"Most of the local investors are out of money," added Mike Shannon, who specializes in Detroit foreclosures and has clients from New Zealand, Australia, England and other places.
Recently a Californian purchased 178 properties, mostly one at a time, and most for under $10,000. Another has purchased six Detroit properties since September and hopes to begin buying five a month.

manufacturing that built Detroit will never return. they need to change the mind set. they need to go from a manufacturing mindset to a service mindset. innovation is the name of the game and they refuse to understand that.Originally posted by Mr incredible View PostThe quick fix would be for some big manufacturing to move in and make use of all that skilled labour, hybrid cars?, otherwise it will benefit from any national upturn anyways, just looks so cheap
and did i say 30 years up above. lol. that would be the best case scenario, Detroit most likely wont be a thriving city for 50-75 years or more..
they were a full blown dieing city before the world recession. they were closing down schools and offices left and right BEFORE the world recession.
they are a steam engine train in a diesel world bro..
the city will have to completly die before they have any hope to start again.
