  • My Sister passes out Friday - Royal Navy

So she's almost completed boot camp, one full days physical left and another exam, but so far she's been getting like 96% i Law Security History etc...

I'm stoked I'm so proud, she's come so far in life, we all had a real shitty time as kids, she's been in a bad marriage for a long time, recently got out of it, has three grown up kids now. Her confidence and competence levels have grown and grown in boot camp as she's toughed it out to the point she was made squadren leader.

When I was younger, she was the only one in the family that took time out to watch me compete in bodbybuilding, so the least I can do is pay her back but to be honest she's talked with my mum about the ultimate sacrifice that may come one day with the choice she has made and she really wants this, its that kind of personality that stokes me.

One things for sure she's gonna get tested cos if I don't embaras her with getting emotional I'll be giving her shit, in a supportive way:clapback::clapback::clapback::clapback::retard :

How old is she? You said she has grown kids and I was just wondering what age limit you can join the service over there.

The U.S. Army recruiter wanted an old man like me at 42 yrs old. I thought he was joking but, he was not.

Were you in the service before? When I was in bootcamp in The Marines we had some guy like 37 years old. He did like 16 years in the Navy then came over to the marines. He had more ribbons then the Drill Instructors. But I think he lost his rank I cant remeber.

just gone 36, yah she had em young lol, like I said it was a rough childhood, she got outa there the first way she could lol.

36 is the cut off point I think, like you can't be over 35 when you apply or something

Not saying its the SAS or comando regiment but she said lots of people dropped out, as you probably know its not about saying yeah well I can do the 15 pull ups or run the distance in a time, they do all that, get locker searched, kit checked bed at 22oo hrs, then woken up at 3:30 for parade and more excercise. many people breakdown because their bodies are in recovery defecit and mentally it doesn't feel right

Its like a ceremonial event for those that have completed boot camp, can be quite tough, they have to parade for hours, not allowed to show emotion or get distracted, hence some of them actually pass out if its a hot day, so they call it the passing out.

Not sure what they call it in the US

Exactly the same thing. They are yanking your chain. They had a catcher squad at my boot camp graduation to catch and drag away all the guys who passed out happens quite often can be hard to stand at attention or parade rest for an hour or more.
