But since they're not, and if you take them, it's illegal - meaning if something happens to you, it is your own fault. :)

However, the pharmacies can see exactly what you are being prescribed no matter where you fill them (unless you scam it blah blah). This guy probably was taking most of the things in him for awhile, and to top that off imagine what else wasn't coming up in the tox screen ? I mean he was 50... I'm sure he probably had some crazy nights/days and wound up using the docs/streets in the end to his own demise.
A pharmacy/pharmacist has to be very careful not to undermine the patients confidence in the doctor. They have a duty to warn a patient if they feel necessary, but that's usually about side effects and document drug interactions. Even then they can't make it sound like they shouldn't be taking it, just to be aware and to contact their MD if they feel something is effecting them negatively or suggest and alternative med that does the similar thing with different or less side effects.

:noo: - i have no problem owning my shit !!!

the docs are partly to blame !!! the drug companies give them rewards - little extra something here and there to push there drugs and the doctors have no problem doing that -- yup he took coke and bunch of other shit thats his to own and rot with -

there are thousands of people told that they need this or that everyday for health reasons :disagree: -- they follow what the docs say and many have heartattacks , strokes or just plain die from drugs being pushed too soon - so are the patients to blame for that aswell

Agreed, but you know it's a huge step from walgreens to the little mom and pop places that have filled scripts for years w/out even thinking that someone could be doc shopping. I have the best doctor I've ever had in my life currently and she and I have disagreed and agreed on pharmacology, the point is that I don't hide anything from my doctor. I promise you if billy mays had just ONE doctor he was telling everything he was taking, that doctor (unless he was a tool) would move for immediate harm reduction. I personally find that no matter script I filled after I filled some suboxen way back the people knew me and looked at me, well like they should've, I was a mess. That being said, it didn't stop me doc shoppin for a period and I never ran into problems. It's a matter of when to say, "ok I am not healthy and I need help" and whether or not you can face that to your norm doc or if you feel like me and found someone I had never met and I talked to indepth about my life before we started any treatment/follow up care. Now I'm seeing her weekly due to where I'm at and I cannot wait because she does give a damn about me and she makes it known. That's the sort of doctor you find, always stay honest with, and hold on to.

Pharmacies don't share their prescribing info, if you are paying cash at a pharmacy and paying cash down the street for the same thing...there is nothing that lets pharm A know that pharm B filled it. If you are on insurance it is a different story, but the sharing of a patient drug history is not some automatic thing.

And I don't know the drug laws in all your states, but I see many..and I mean many doctors prescribing all that shit to one person. Some of you are living in a dreamland.

I'm forced to have health insurance in my state and so everything runs thru the system. I have had pharm A say pharm B filled blah blah at this date etc and it turns into a fact that I have a script so they are required to fill it, they can still contact the doctor. When i was in FL tho doctors would give you shit like candy, it's just way different up here, im in the heroin capitol of america and we have a very serious task force just for OCs. I think it's a real state to state thing, but I don't know the laws for em cept for FL and where im at here. Either way, it was my fault then, it was billy mays fault now.

I am speaking about this specific individual. If you take all of those narcotics combined with xanax, valium, alcohol, and cocaine - you have nobody to blame for your death but yourself.....

it's a bad situation period when you have to be scripted a narcotic for something. And you're damn right about the doc's having the push on some drugs - when OCs hit the street here you could have a pulled groin and you would get a full script off the bat, it wasn't till that 700+ million lawsuit and some serious arrests that the shit got expensive and people started hitting the streets for their smack. I got real sick of playing guinea pig w/doctors awhile ago and I think all drugs scripted you really need to know yourself and the drug very well before even considering taking it (I mean this is basic stuff but when it's RXed people seem to turn that blind eye). It's just sad because the truth is we all have responsibility, sometimes we slip and end up dead, sometimes we handle it the right way - either way life goes on for those still kicking and hopefully people learn, harm reduction is a bitch when you have hindsight vision and see the suffering.

I agree, but I am tired as shit seeing my tax dollars pay for these cocktails of meds.

If they could release stats on this, I would bet a lot of my money that the majority of people on xanax, valium, hydrocodone, etc....are the ones on Medicade. Take that majority, and half of them are addicted to the shit, and the other half are selling it. They aren't working normal tax paying jobs, but they sure as hell reap all the benefits of the taxpayers. :wack:

These people are all fucked up on meds, they keep spitting out kids, and the cycle never ends. They have the kids hooked on drugs at age 5.

When school is in session, I take about 30-70 mgs of adderall a MONTH, that shit is a powerful drug that people are gladly giving to their kids every single day. I believe the long term effects are going to be drastic.

We are still the only place you can advertise fucking prescriptions meds directly to the consumer, it is pathetic.
