i gotta tell ya. it really is hard to like you based on your posts. lol
Its the main reason there aren't sidewalks where I live. You give up yard to have cement in your front lawn. I don't understand what is yuppie about that. And I simply stated I've never had sidewalks at my home. There are plenty of trails tho. :dunno

For me it gives me a family, active and community feel. A neighborhood to me is people walking to friends houses, to the corner store, kids riding bikes down the sidewalk, walking dogs... Without sidewalks it has to be done on the street and people only seem to do it when they have to.Originally posted by NewbieChris View PostGives the mental reminder of more urban area. Probably ugly isn't the best term. It's just not the look a lot of suburbanites look for.

Well I see that the view of a sidewalk is subjective. There are a few new plans being built around my house and sidewalks are beeing built too, but once out of the nieghborhood they end. That's not all bad though. I have been paying a lot of attention to these things since we want to buy something in the bext couple of years. The thing around here though is probably 90% of the houses are multiple levels. We want a single level 3-4 bedrooms.

we gave the girls the upstairs - i never go up there unless issues with the bathroom etc , stairs are a pain in the ass
hindsight we would much rather have everything on one level

When I was in vegas I walked from Bellagio to some big outa town electrical store for a video cam, half way there, the pavement ran out so I J walked the remainder.
So no side walks to me means j walking:thumup:

One of the reasons that sidewalks are becoming a thing of the past is because of the upkeep of them. Homeowners dont like shovelling them in the winter or repairing them if they become cracked or damaged. Plus they're just a pain in the ass to install so why bother.
