  • CIA being investigated - Why? its was national security at stake

So they bent the rules to get information from people they thought were holding out. But given what was at stake can you blame them?

I'm not saying that its ok to waterboard etc but if it was a case of a terrorist that knew of future attacks that would kill many people or he had information that would help stop future attacks or catch others that have comitted then sorry but that information needs to be got in a war against terror.

Clearly what then happens retrospectively is the senior bods claim they knew nothing about it, and it stops there, it called turning a blind eye.

As for the administration getting into deep investigations of the CIA's undertakings, it just seems stupid, your making the hamstrung by principles that enemies would willingly undercut to get what they want and making your own investigative powers frightened to get vital information that would threaten the security of the population.

Sorry to be a waysayer again but it just seems crazy

It is all an ideological agenda. The last part is exactly the point of it of it.

Sam Harris discusses this in his book. He talks about the use of individual torture is repulsive to most peoples minds. But dropping a bomb doesn't automatically give the images of innocents being tortured through fire, disfigurement and lost of other loved innocents.

Since we are talking about torture.
Stick a curling iron up his ass and turn it on! as it heats up slowly you will get the info you want before it even gets real hot.

It's crazy to want to be better than someone who would do anything to harm you? It's not better to have respect for human life? That's not to say he is good, or worth saving. It is to say...you don't have the right to treat someone else in such a henious manner, just because he would do it to you. This is what I find most odd about our culture. We find the concept of respecting life so insignificant when we are afraid, yet somehow demonize the very acts we commit.
