There's a simpler question than that, do I believe in god?

Answer: yes, I don't church every day, pray every day, put it in other peoples faces but yes on my own, in my own thoughts, quietely 100% yes.

Thats cool and I know where I stand with you and likewise you can take it when people give it straight to you too, you see things in black an white. For you if you don't see something with your own eyes its not 100% real.

It takes all sorts and I'm generally similar to you but I do have another side too and its not that I go to church every day but in response to Shibbs excellent thought stimulating thread I just think that the western world is turning in on itself and its routes (albeit as I see them), the whole aethiest thing brings out the antidisestablishmentarianist side of me. LOL get your dictionaries out fuckers:thumup:
yes and no. i do see things in black and white. but i also believe in things i cant see. gravity etc..

i am just judging religion by its history. sun gods, greek gods, cat gods, and the list goes on. those are all now seen as "historys gods". those gods were as real to those people as jesus and "god" are real to people today.

i believe in science and reason. i also realize that many things out there cannot be explained. but i belive that is simply a matter of time. i believe everything in the universe has a scientific explination that will some day be answered.

and i am not "aethist" or whatever its spelled. that is a group of tools that just thinks they are better then everyone.

i stand alone with my own beliefs. i reject religion and i reject athiest. :weights:

        • i also believe it is in the realm of science that there is some kind of organism out there that is the "king of the jungle" so to speak.

however, i think the god that is in your head "old man with a beard sitting in the clouds" looks more like the ingredients of the universe.

i think its pretty cocky of anyone to believe that a god that exist would be in the forum of a human. we have very little importance compared to the grand size of the universe.

Its funny I was just about to reply to your last post and say that I would never put that kind of thought towards a mortal.

Example I have an uncle, saw him monday afternoon with bone cancer, the chemo has knocked his kidney out of action, he can't really excrete so he's on dialisis and prone to water dispersing elsewhere in his body, it got into his lungs and began to drown him, now he has pneumonia aswell and his body can't fight it because the chemo killed off nearly all his white blood cells to try and retard the cancer, he's lay there struggling to do what we take for granted, to breathe and his heart is having to work double time to work the respiration through the small parts of his lungs that still work and he's got a face mask on pressurised to stop the lungs from collapsing and he's recieving introvenous anti biotics to try and deal with the pneumonia.

If it wasn't for mans wish to help others, all that technology wouldn't do jack and if it wasn't for both he'd already be dead.

            Two points;

            1) It makes me wonder if thats your relative would you pray or no? I do
            2) Also what makes man want to help each other? I'm not saying its religion but the general christian philosophy is to care for each other which I think is good.

            • 1) not sure bro. i will admit that yesterday my grandpop would have been 84 and i said happy birthday to him in my mind. also tell him i miss him etc.. have done the same to my puppy that died a few years back from a flu type virus. so even though i dont necessarily believe in "heaven" etc.. I still in a way pray i guess.

              2) i dont agree at all. has nothing to do with a "christian philosophy". its just humans being kind to other humans. humans were being kind to other humans well before the word "christian" was made up..

              • I have trouble w/any type of prayer because I don't feel as if I am being honest, since I have so much doubt about what even exists to pray to. So wouldn't that make me a hypocrite to pray ?

                  • So a lot has been said while I was at work so I don't want to be all over the place. I will just leave to anyone to bring up any points they would like me to add basic information that I know (not my feelings), my thoughts on something or maybe a comparative analogy to see a different point of view.

I will quickly answer the current topic.

                    1) No I would not pray. If it's possible I would have less belief in the possibility of a caring supreme being.

                    2) The scientific term would be Altruism (not sure if that is the correct conjugation of Altruistic) along with empathy.
