Bakersfeild wholy shit bro that is the arm pit of california. Get your ass outta there before you get in trouble. There are no jobs there only thing to do is get in trouble. get to So-cal you can find any range of housing you want. You might not like the hood but you get it.

LA is beyond huge so this is what you do...go on craigslist click on Los Angeles then click on rentals type the rent you wanna pay click search when you find the apartment you like that is in your budget see what city it is in then do a job search for that city and see if there is anything in your profession if there is great if not move on and look at another city like I said Los Angeles actually Los Angeles county is huge you'll for sure find what you like. :)

yea, you pretty much picked the worst place in all of CA to live....

I dont normally advocate people moving here since there are plenty of people around already but I love northern CA. I'm about an hour from SF or Sacramento, less than an hour from the beach, only a few hours from Tahoe/snowy places.

          It's definitely worth looking into.

Here I already started it for you first link is for an apartment of your own and second link for a room rental, I think initially you are better off renting a room from someone.

i got some gov't subsidized housing near my work you can live at. it's a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom townhome for a mere $400 a month! if you have kids you can claim them and get the price knocked down some more. :)
