Actually, no- that WAS the rumor about 4 or 5 months ago...But, Apple said they wanted to stay with AT&T...Apple was going to release it to Verizon, and then yanked it.

Remember when the Verizon/AT&T wars started? That was why- Verizon was pissed that they didn't get the IPhone, so they started the whole coverage war.

the iphone is sucking 3g from att. that's why they have horrible 3g coverage in areas with less towers. opening up the iphone to all providers would show that verizon's adverts are semi-true.

i think they will lose a lot of iphone customers, not necessarily ATT customers. iphone took off because of it's exclusivity but now verizon will have it, more people will go for other smartphones.
